Hello LJ world!
It's been a while since I updated, so here is some random stuff:
-My family lost our cat Gretchen about two weeks ago. It's been really, really hard on everyone. She was like a third sister to me, especially since she was older than the twins (who turned 18 last week, btw). My parents are both having a hard time with it. It sounds ridiculous to be so upset about a pet, but really, I can't imagine being at home without my Grey. I haven't really dealt with the issue myself yet. I found out at the wrong time which was actually good b/c I didn't want to be upset talking to my mom b/c it upsets her more, and then I just haven't made time really think about it since. It's going to be hard to go home. My dad buried her under a tree in our front yard.
-On the same day we lost Gretchen, my computer died for good.... again. Agh. Even before that though, my computer was touch and go. I'd appear to be online but really not be b/c it froze or the power thing gave out again. It was just being really irritating.
-On a much lighter note, the summer has been fun. I've been working in the morning at PJ's while job hunting, etc. I've gotten to spend a lot of time with Jeremy and Casey at night which has been great.
-Jeremy, Alan and I went to see a musical that was new to us in Birmingham about two weeks ago. It was Tick Tick Boom by Jonathan Larson, the guy who also did Rent. It was really good. Funny.
-My sister is coming to visit this weekend! If I had the weekend off like I asked for, I'd be really excited, but b/c Auburn has a scrimage Saturday morning, I have to work. Wouldn't want anyone else to be there b/c there might be work involved if we get busy. But, anyway, we have lots of fun stuff planned and I think we'll have fun regardless of work interruptions.
I miss all of you and I hope you are having a great summer and are excited about your new prospects or coming back to school. Keep in touch. Maybe I'll have aim again soon and can actually communicate with some of you.
And, here's another one of those thefridayfive community poll things from last Friday that sounded interesting:
1. Are you named after anyone? If so, explain.
-People say that my mom named my after her best friend whose name was Julie, and others say that it's after my grandmother whose first name (that she doesn't use) is Julia. My mom wanted to name me Misty April, but, thank goodness, she realized that that sounded like a weather forecast (and was dumb) and called me Julie April instead. In short, no.
2. Do you have your children's names picked out already? If so, is there any significance?
-I would like to name my son, if I have one, Joseph Rowan which would be sorta after both my grandfathers - James Rowan and Joe (English for his original German name, Joachim). BUT, my cousin just named her baby Rowan, so that may be out now. For a girl I like the names Emilia and Melina, but I'm not set on anything.
3. If you were born a member of the opposite sex what would your name have been?
-Oh goodness. Everyone always laughs at this. I would have been Beau Eric. Or maybe Bo Eric. I dunno how they would have spelled it. My sisters would have been Travis and Tyler.
4. If you could re-name yourself what name would you pick and why?
-As neutral as I am about my name, I can't imagine myself with any other name. Sticking with the month theme, however, I do wish that my middle name were Mae instead of April. Or, I wish April was pronounced the German way instead of with the long A like in English.
5. Are there any mispronunciations/typos that people do w/ your name constantly?
-My last name. There's a long story behind that one. No one ever guesses that Hinz is spelled H-i-n-z though. It's always Hines or Heinz. Can't blame though, Hinz is weird.
