So, here's a little something from my trip...

And here we are! I can’t actually believe I’ve been to the other side of the world and come back…

We arrived about 11 a.m. yesterday. Plus duty free shopping. Plus thanking and saying bye to Caio and his parents. Plus going out for lunch with my parents. Plus coming home and telling mum about every single picture I took. Plus showing my purchases. Plus partially unpacking. Plus watching Prince Caspian drinking guarana (I missed that like hell). I went to bed almost midnight. And woke up today after noon.

All of the links are pictures, so take a look at them!

So, who was it? It was unbelievable. San Francisco is just so cute and cozy. I felt like walking every single street there - which I didn’t, obviously. We did ride the cable car and we visited City Lights (after working so hard on beat generation, it was just a must-go). We shopped a bit (I just had to go to Apple Store and buy myself a Red iPod nano - which is still charging). Christmas was a bit strange away from home. We went to Napa Valley on Christmas Day, and found all of the winery closed (well, considering I wouldn’t be able to taste anything, not that much of a loss). We went to Sausalito and took a bunch of pictures with San Francisco as a background. I got to see - and ride on - the Golden Bridge. I hope to someday go back there…

Then, we were off to Tokyo, on a very long trip that took us through the International Date Line. Being across the world made us wake up really early in the morning - we caught the 4 a.m. news program on BBC. By the way, BBC was the only thing we could understand on TV. On the other hand, breakfast was just luxurious. We walked quite a lot - and I got to eat Ebi Filet-O (shrimp burger). Riding the subway is just priceless - and it’s almost impossible not to reach your final destination just switching lines (and they’re colorful for your better understanding of it). Note to anyone who wishes to go to Japan: lots of things close between Dec 28th and Jan 4th. Like the Imperial Gardens and the Zoo. At least we went to the Tokyo Tower, that has an amazing view from the city (on a fogless day, you can even spot Mount Fuji). We also visited one of Tokyo’s crowdest temples on New Year’s Eve, the Senso-ji Temple.

We took the Shinkansen (bullet train) to Osaka on New Year’s, on a trip that took us somewhat close to Mount Fuji. We went to the city’s Aquarium, that has a 9 meters deep Pacific Ocean thank, with 30 cm acrylic walls. We also went to Universal Studios (Spider Man, Jaws and Jurassic Park, with long waiting lines on the betweens). You could spot Brazilians anywhere you went. We went to Nara by train and saw a gigantic Buddha - and a bunch of deers on our way to the Todaiji Temple. We also went to Kyoto, saw a temple whose name I cannot recall and saw a couple of geishas on the streets.

Our way back from Japan to the USA was a very long way. We took the train from Osaka to Tokyo, then a plane from Tokyo to San Francisco. That was Jan 4th, close to 5 p.m. We arrived on San Francisco Jan 4th, 9 a.m. Then a plane to Salt Lake City. Then a taxi to Park City. Then something between lunch and dinner on a Mexican restaurant. That had plenty of Brazilian employees. I didn’t go skiing or snowboarding this time. It was way colder than I could possibly had expected, and it snowed constantly. Caio said the visibility on the tracks was non-existent. So spent two days reading and playing Disgaea on Caio’s new (and blue) Nintendo DS. The snow just made everything so beautiful. We visited Main Street and we went to Park City’s outlets. I went crazy - 'cause shopping is more than addiction. Time to get everything back into my pack.

Jan 9th was time to come home. So there we went: car from Park City to Salt Lake City, small plane from Salt Lake City to Denver, a slightly bigger plane from Denver to Washington, a very big plane from Washington to Rio.

That’s the overall scheme of our trip. Here are some random facts.
Movies watched (both on plane and rented): Mamma Mia! (3 times), The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2, Bottle Shock, Wall-E, Burn After Reading, Hellboy 2, The City of Amber.
Books readMoney spent on yens: none.
Coldest temperature: -10ºC (or something close to that).
Pictures taken: aprox. 420.
