(no subject)
I am in Mexico! I am staying in a condo with amanda, jennifer, two other girls: amber(from TX State) and Michelle (from Baylor). I told Michelle I wasn't particularly fond of Waco. She asked me why not. And no, she wasn't being ironic; her voice oozed with sincerity. This is enough said about her. It pretty much defines her whole personality.
Amber spent the first day saying how glad she was that we all seemed like people who were here to actually learn spanish and take it seriously, instead of just partying all the time. She has spent every evening since at bars drinking late into the night. She is from Texas State. I like her.
Of the girls here: half don't drink at all, but have very heavy accents and laugh at stupid jokes. ex)on one tour bus our guide had a very loud microphone. some of the guys were getting annoyed and started moaning and making animal noises everytime our guide started to talk. the guide was very interesting and amusing. the animal noises were not. they weren't even accurate. it sounded somewhere between a cow and an annoying frat guy. I asked amanda and jenn what animal they thought it was when i reproduced it for them.. they just looked at me confused. we finally settled on a cow.
The other half: sorority girls who drink a lot and are very tan. I don't really fall in either category. I had three margaritas and two pina coladas and was fairly drunk. They tell me I am a light weight. I thought I was doing well. Then again, they don't know me very well. My drunken state is often misinterpreted by those who don't know me.
Some of the guys seem like they are probably cool. Some are baylor frat guys who are very immature. look above for example. Two nights ago they all went bar hopping. They ended up at this club where one of the guys ended up making out with some girl he claimed was a lesbian named Olga. He said it was a pretty good lesbian name and that he was proud to have converted her. I said Olga didn't sound especially lesbian to me, and that if i ever had a lesbian baby i would name her ova. The guy just kinda looked at me. He's from Baylor. Enough said about him I think. (and there's no way this girl was converted..i hope she got him to buy her lots of drinks, i bet she did)
We went on a jungle tour yesterday and saw crocodiles. The bus ride there and back was 4 hours each way. I guess it was worth it. I had never seen a crocodile before. On the ride back, our guide made a cooler of tequila sunrises. They were very good. I had sat by myself on the bus so I could lay out and sleep. However, after the drinks came I made Amanda sit with me. I don't drink alone.
More will come later. By the end of this trip I plan to be writing all of this in espanol. Be prepared.
