Last night when I took the babysitter home at 9:30 it was FIVE degrees out.  I decided that yep, it would actually fall below zero like they've been warning us.  I just woke up from sleeping in.  It's 8:30.  It's ONE degree.  Holy cow.  I know I've said I love winter.  And I don't generally mind it.  But just walking around in the 5-10 ish degrees last night on our date *with the breeze* - it was so cold it hurt.  And I'm longing to be outside again.  To take the dog for walks instead of throwing the ball to him in the basement, to use the jogging stroller and go for a long walk on the trails, to get up in the mountains and do something fun.  Nathan suggested that for our anniversary in March he'd take the day off and we could go snowshoeing.  I told him to wait and check the weather.  Boy.

Our date was fun.  I kept hearing about this place called Carrabba's, so we tried it out.  Pretty good.  Their bread with oil and herbs rivaled Olive Garden's breadsticks in taste, and the smell and texture was so much better.  My dinner was awesome.  Nathan said his alfredo sauce had too much garlic (that's never a problem with me!).  He wanted to stroll the mall after, but we ended up at Barnes & Noble, mostly in the gardening section, planning on what we can do after this snow finally goes away.  I found plans for a super easy grow box to start seeds early - I just need a good heating mat.   It's going to make me sad to have a much shorter growing season here, but at least I get a garden in my own yard instead of driving to a community spot!  I called 'dibs' on an area in the front to do a really pretty herb garden, too.  The herbs in the stores here just never look or smell fresh, but using fresh is so much yummier than using dried.  So I'm going to grow my own, something I wanted to do even when the herbs at the stores in CA were gorgeous.  I'm excited to get on that.  Again, herbs aren't hardy, so I'll have to start over each year, but oh well - that might end up being fun.
