Here I am in Denmark.

Disclaimer: Entry typed by Maren, dictated by Julia, due to computer glitchage and weird Danish keyboards. This entry is rated NC-17 for implied content. (Just kidding.)

Here I am in Denmark, having a really great time. I got here on Wednesday, at 6 PM after 18 hours of travel. I was really excited to get my luggage... I mean... to see Maren and her mom because I had been kind of nervous that they would not be there. (Note from Maren: We were nervous that Julia had missed her flight as past experiences with other visitors had resulted in such.) There was no reason to be nervous about that, but I guess I am just paranoid. Anyway, so they were there. And all was good. So we got out of the airport which is in Copenhagen, Denmark's capital, and got into Maren's dad's bright blue car (it's very blue) to drive to Næstved, the medium sized town in which Maren lives. It's very green in Denmark. I mean, the trees. Anyway, we just had dinner, relaxed, comma, talked, dash - we hadn't seen each other in two years, so we had a lot of things to catch up on, (editor's note: I type everything she says, hoh hoh hoh).

The next day, we went into town (fifteen minutes driving, 20-25 minutes biking, 1.5 hours by foot from Maren's house) and it was cool, though sadly very Americanized in terms of stores. We shopped a little, but mostly Maren just showed me around. Then we went home and watched some movies.

The following day, Friday, we took a train to Copenhagen and went on a tour bus. So we saw a lot of the sites of Copenhagen and went to the top of Rundtårn (a watch tower, I think). We also took tons of pictures, which I will post upon my return. We had lunch in a little cafe and shopped, then we took a bike-taxi to the train station. Basically, it's a trailer bench attached to the end of a bike. (Maren's Note: The bike driver was named Claus and he was funny. Sneeze.) That was uber scary, yet very fun. I thought I was going to die because he was going about 40 miles an hour, but I didn't.

Saturday: we walked/bussed to town (translation: we walked quite a distance to the bus stop and then took the bus into town... we walked a total of three miles). We met Maren's friend Dorthe and then we did some grocery shopping because Maren's mom deserted us on this deserted island and we had to fend for ourselves by hunting wild boars and cooking them on (britney) spears over a bonfire (translation: we were alone in the house while Maren's mother took a minivacation to the tiny island (nearly deserted) of Lyø. don't even try to look for it on the world map. It's not there, it's deserted so no one cares about it.) So, anyway, we have had to cook for ourselves for the last few days. And it is surprisingly edible food. I mean, really. I would even go so far as to say that it's good. Who knew? It's like poets who don't know it. Okay, never mind. (Maren's note: We can cook mean pasta and chicken.. it spits oil at us but then it tastes good, so I guess it evens out.) So then we watched a ton of movies. So far we have watched: 13 conversations about one thing (weird artsy movie), Something's gotta give, Bounce, Mona Lisa Smile, Thirteen (very depressing movie about teenagers and drugs), The Man with two brains (oddly romantic...really oddly), The Good Girl (Maren's note: Sweet, yet sad.), The others, Love Actually (Maren's note: actually a good movie, bad joke).

On Sunday, we took a day off, slept in, talked a lot, ate a super late dinner, and watched movies. And here we are.

Did I mention the weather? (Maren: No.) Well, let's just say I was shocked. I mean, I knew that Denmark was up there, geographically, but I didn't know it was that high. (Maren's note: Yes, because Denmark smokes pot.) It has been so cold. It rained on Thursday and Friday (I mean, really pouring), and it has been cold and windy since. It's like winter in LA during the "cold parts." So, yeah, I don't want to imagine the winter here. Accordingly, I have decided to never live in Denmark, England, or any of the lands in between. I mean, up in Northern Europe.

It is pretty, and it's green, but it is cold. *sighs* Sorry this is such a long entry. There will be a longer one coming, telling you about my adventures prior to Denmark, but for now this is all in the Adventures of Julia T. Ta ta! I mean, hej hej, pronounced hi-hi, definition: bye-bye in Danish. I'm not joking. (Maren's note: Hoh hoh. Good bye!) Tak for det.
