Alright, so I've spent the last week doing nothing but playing Devil May Cry 3. And I think I'm finally ready to update on it.
The new Style system is genius. Having four completely different uses for the circle button adds a surprising amount of depth to the game. I've only tried three of the four Styles so far(Swordmaster, Gunslinger and Trickster), but they all seem pretty good. Royal Guard is just a tad too hard for my tastes. My most used Styles so far are Swordmaster and Gunslinger, since I'm an offensive player(I'd rather have an extra attack button, rather than trying to dodge or block attacks).
I've also gotten up to the end of Mission 8, which means I'm a little under halfway through the game(and just about to earn a new Devil Arm, the Electric Guitar/Bat Summoner, Nevan). This also means that I beat that three headed piece of shit. And the demon swordsmen after him(Agni and Rudra, who give you my second favorite Devil Arm thusfar, the twin swords of fire and wind). Virgil was a pussy, by the way. I beat him on my first try, with both of us near dead. When I tried the second time(switching between Rebellion, your initial sword and Agni & Rudra), I managed to beat him while keeping my health above the halfway point, without the use of items. Because items are for pussies. That's right, I said it.
Oh, and the coolest thing about the game? No weapon reuses the same moves as another. Rebellion, Agni & Rudra and Cerberus(The ice nunchucks) all have completely different movesets and can work hand-in-hand, if you're experienced enough.
