Dear diary- still no car. No gun either.

So when I dropped the car off Wednesday, they told me they would order the part (from California) and that I'd have it ready Friday, worst case Monday. So on Monday afternoon, I called to ask about the status. "My" repair guy told me he'd check, and call me right back. An hour later, I called him again, and he told me he "hadn't gotten to it yet, but would do it right now if I could hold."

I'll give him points for honesty, if nothing else. A few minutes later, he comes back to say the part hasn't arrived yet, but will be in Tuesday afternoon and that they would install it right away.

I said fine, and asked what the new price would be. It took a moment for me to explain and him to understand that I no longer had any intention of paying the originally agreed upon price, as he had not delivered in the agreed upon time. I was calm, I was polite, but I made it very clear I was not satisfied.

Fast forward to this afternoon, and I have a missed call from him, along with a garbled voice mail. I call him back, and he tells me the part they received was the wrong one, and that they're overnighting the correct part (I kinda wish they had done that the first time, but oh well) and would I like a free rental and please don't kill me?

I ask when the car will be ready, he says lunch time Wednesday. Seems the part will arrive about 5am, and they will put it in first thing when they open. "No worries then," I say. "I'll be fine without a car for this evening. See you tomorrow."
He sounded soooooo relieved that I wasn't trying to reach through the phone to kill him at that point. It was really kind of funny.

So I'm really curious as to what the final price is going to be. :D
