So, the projector. Works great, output from the HTPC looks fantastic, but I've run into a stumbling block with the PS2\DVD player. The problem: PS2 has RGA component output, projector has a single video component input, DVI-I, VGA, S-Video and RS-232C. Not a lot of options. S-Video looks like crap, the single video component is about on par with that. All I want is clarity - I don't require upscaling. I just want it to look good.

Unfortunately, upscaling is the only choice I have. I bought an Xploder PS2 HDTV kit last night, the cheapest upscaler I could find ($50), but then realised that it only has YPrPb outputs which of course my projector doesn't handle. Which means I have to buy the Xploder VGA adaptor, another $30... It's turning into an unreasonably expensive option just for the sake of a clear picture, almost $100 after everything is said and done.

I do eventually want to buy a PS3. That's my plan. The standard 80gb PS3 package is $400, and supposedly there aren't going to be any price drops pre-Christmas, which sucks. I could probably get a 40gb used system for about $300, though, then just upgrade the hard drive. But if I'm already spending $100 on an upscaler... I'm stuck between a cheaper but temporary solution, and cancelling the order (if I can) and just holding off for a couple of months. I can't make up my mind.

Anyone have any suggestions?
