My prediction for what will happen on Election Day.

I think Obama will get Virginia and Florida, both of which are monumental pick-ups from 2004. The hotly contested Ohio will still be red, methinks. Nevada, Colorado, and New Mexico are all solidly in the Obama camp. Some people are predicting an Obama route that will extend into the crimson territories of North Dakota, Montana, Missouri, West Virginia, and even Georgia. I don't see it happening, though. The polling in a lot of those states hasn't been consistent enough to put Obama ahead, so I'll err on the side of caution. I'm expecting a small squeeze in the polls as Nov 4 draws near, partly the effect of normal tightening in the polls so close to the date, and from a slight rebound that I'm predicting after the acute phase of the economy's fallout. The way I see it, as McCain's numbers tanked in light of the Wall Street collapse and his "erratic" decisions surrounding it, part of the drop in numbers was reactionary...essentially people jumping ship by leaping a little to far, so to speak. I think some of that fallout will correct itself come election day, just enough to keep Obama out of Ohio, Missouri, North Dakota, etc.
