After the success of Ted's red velvet birthday cake I attempted a chocolate torte last weekend. It is lovely. The cakey part turned out perfect. Even after being in the fridge a few days it is moist yet appropriately dense. I used some fresh strawberries for filling. I guess it isn't very traditional. The only thing I would have changed was to top it with whip cream base topping instead of a cream cheese frosting. Not too bad for cake on a whim though.
Ted picked up some free-range organic buffalo steaks at the farmers market and made a fantastic dinner to go with my cake. He took advantage of having a multitude of potatoes to choose from and got me the perfect mashing vegis. There was even some early broccoli at one of the market stands too. He was thinking of string beans but he knows how I love broccoli so it couldn't be passed up.
I hope our new house has a bit larger cooking area.
