...But Time has the final word...

LOL NO I AM NOT LISTENING TO MY FAVOURITE ELO ALBUM AGAIN NOOOO. Seriously though none of that had anything to do with the content of this post. It's...wait for it...

GRYPHONS! LEGACY GRYPHONS! OMG, AMAZING!

As the little note on the side says, yep, it's Charles, Dakota's dirty-old-man-gryphon father. He is also gifted with dark eyeridge feathers--- frig it, they're eyebrows. I have noted several time that I always imagined Charlie looking a bit like my Folkmanis gryphon, Merv. (I was going to use one of the stock photos from Folkmanis, but seriously, that picture does not show just how magnificent the eyebrows on that gryphon are. Plus, I love these photos.) So yeah, trying to impliment it on a gryphon in my own style.

...And it looks awesome. I didn't expect it to turn out this well right away.

Charles is where Dakota gets his golden eagle side from, so his facial structure is supposed to be very much like his son's. He has traditional gryphon ears, though, and a lion butt. I think when I wrote him in "If My Heart Had Wings" I maybe laid on the "dirty old man" part too heavy and when I edit it and write Charles some more I'll have to pull back some of that dignity, because he does come from a hoity-toity family, and, well, he's a GRYPHON. I dunno, though, the way I can see it going down is it mostly being a sort of act or at least he think's he's awesome and beautiful and a genius, but he doesn't take himself that seriously, either. Kind of hard to describe how I see him. He certainly isn't above filthy jokes and making them in front of his son just because he loves to see him squirm when he does so. Probably at first it was an effort to CORRUPT him into being a dirty, dirty bird like him, but...well, we know Dakota, especially when he was younger. Too dang shy and soft-spoken for that. Also, like everyone that has ever loved Dakota, and after that, Lillian, he mercilessly teases because he LOVES. (I think Lillian took to this philosophy waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than her father did.)

By the time we meet him in IMHHW, I think I wrote him so his brows have already dulled and gone gray, which was what I was trying to get across at the top. Before then they were darker (again, like Merv.) That middle drawing looked 100% less silly before I went over it with a regular pencil. And the bottom one 100% more like a creeper face before I attached it with graphite. Despite what one would think, I was going for a slight creeper face there, so yeah, killed it. :<

I need to make more excuses to write stroies and such with Charles. I just love him soooo, don't ask what's up with me and the "dirty old man" archetype, I don't even understand why I love it.

Here is the news: A cure has been found for good ole' rocket lag!
