I am probably going to get a new monitor next week. My current Tyris monitor that my dad got with my original computer back in 2006 seems to be crapping out, and after my dad poked around at it and did some research on common problems with this type of monitor, it's becoming clear that something as simple as a new bulb or something won't do the job. So...I am lined up for a new monitor after my dad gets his paycheck ('cause lawd knows I am not making enough to afford to buy myself a monitor, but he also knows my only OTHER current method of making money REALLY REQUIRES a monitor.) And PLEASE, for the love of GOD, do not advise me on what to get. I am tired of hearing that stuff, because all of it is stuff we CAN'T AFFORD. So...please kindly STFU about your opinions on what's best and what is shit if you can. My dad isn't a MORON when it comes to computers, either. (I WOULD HOPE NOT, THAT'S HIS EFFIN' JOB AND WHAT HE SPENT FOUR YEARS AT MIZZOU WORKING TO GET A DEGREE ON. Why do you think he's the one who BUILDS and UPGRADES my computer(s)?)
I'm getting closer to one year at CiCi's, and closer to being able to quit. Probably not the best idea, but the management can be so shitty at times it's really tempting. I'll at least take advantage of the fact that I have a crapton of free hours (DAYS) thanks to my low hours at CiCi's and see what I can scavenge together for a part-time job, hopefully it won't be AS MUCH of a bitch to find now that I have some experience and a boss that would only say good about me and even now lets me introduce myself as "Julian" since I told him that's the name I preferred to be called and calls me that too. But still, economy is working against me no matter how you cut it. On the other hand, I can work hours that college students can't. *eyebrow waggle*
I just realized I'm getting closer to NaNoWriMo. I dunno if I got it in me this year, honestly. I have some interesting half-ideas, "Legacy" is FULL of stories to be told, and heck, maybe re-"scripting" ASC may be a good idea. (I really do not want to REBOOT ASC, but on the other hand...by now you guys have probably figured I have toyed with the canon a LOT. While I'm not EXACTLY sure how much the existing ASC strips will be affected, I do know there'd just be a huge change in tone and style in general between my stuff from early 2008- post 2010. Seriously, compare my art from then to now. HUGE difference. And a lot of it is a deliberate difference-- I'm seriously trying to learn how to do proper comic pages here with creative layouts. After learning about this "thumbnailing" concept (dhuuur) and in general just studying what a lot of other artists do, I think I'm getting much closer to something that'll look GOOD.
Also even thinking about my next Christmas card, believe it or not, mainly because, y'know, I have to draw it and print it and make sure I have the money on hand to pay for all of them and have time to SHIP all of them. I think I may go with something less specialized than last year (as in, not as focused on my specific characters, especially the weird looking bird robot ones) as to not confuse my relatives since the last ones went over so well with my close relatives and such last year, even if they didn't know WTH was going on, it'd be nice to have something that wouldn't need much "explaining," but dangit I may still have my gryphons because...GRYPHONS.
Lastly, I seriously need a new mood theme but I dunno what to get. JERRY DOES NOT LOOK LIKE THAT ANYMORE, PERIOD. And I don't think I want one of my characters, but damned if I knew what fandom to get icons from. Part of me is tempted towards a Doctor Who moodtheme but I know it would drive a lot of people who are just sick of hearing about it NUTS. (And honestly? I don't blame them! Seriously, people are randomly asking Kory Bing of Skin Deep if she likes it for reasons completely unknown to me because the only time she's ever mentioned it was on Twitter laughing with a friend at the fandom. Which is v. laughable. Seriously, I do not blame people for getting sick of hearing people talk about it since the talk of it has went up even higher than before, and for ME, that means a lot since I already have my hands in so many sci-fi fandoms and enough friends that I knew plenty about it going in from just reading what they said about it around me. But I digress.)
Eeeeeeeh, I may just end up stealing pikachuashnat's J5 theme if she lets me, but GAAAAWD, she used too many sad pics from THAT ONE SCENE. YOU KNOW THE ONE. THE ONE THAT MADE THE NOSTALGIA CRITIC WONDER IF THE MOVIE WENT OFF ITS MEDS. I know this sounds absolutely fruity of me, but I just can't stand to look at poor borked J5. BAWW.
