There were a few moments of elevator music (he recognized it as a rather horrible rendition of the Traveling Wilburys’ Handle With Care) and another voice, male this time, came to his receptors.

He dared not get past the guard by brute force, for he knew the security of the castle was second only to Marksborough Castle in Greater Lassifar (which had defenses that included trained attack fleas that would render intruders itchy to the point the victims were incapacitated)...

It seemed harsh at the time (especially since the robot had perfected the sad puppy face look) but considering just how far away he could get at a steady 20 MPH, it was the best solution possible.

I stared out into those clouds, hoping somehow I could see my way into Heaven, but all I saw was a baleful gray. Stray bits of rain bounced from the awning of the porch and splattered on my face, letting me experience what it’s really like to have tears streaming down my face.
