Day 17 → An art piece (painting, drawing, sculpture, etc.)
Mechanical tiger sculpture named "Shiva" in BelgiumArtist's websiteContinuing on the metal/clockwork/steampunk-ish art, this thing is seriously badass. Okay, I've heard people say "ooooh, but it sounds like a lawnmower and it's so slow and ahh." Doode. I don't exactly thing speed or anything like that was the point of this thing. All on its own it's a serious work of art. Look at that FACE. That is friggen amazing craftsmanship all alone. And any sort of walking machine is still a lot of work to design mechanics-wise. Walking is actually pretty complicated, our bodies just do all the work for us and make it seem easy. But to make a machine to walk at any speed takes serious planning and design work.
That said, I honestly always thought it was done as an art piece first, not an efficient cutting-edge robot like BIGDOG or something that's all utility and no aesthetics. It WAS made for an art gallery. But art that is also mechanical is also awesome either way, anyway.
Man seriously guys I can look at metal art like that all day long oh gooosh I wish I were clever enough to do things like that. Oh well, I'm just not brainy enough, I guess.
