The State of Religion In My Opinion.

I wrote this. This is what I see.

They say that somewhere on the face of this earth, there is a mirror that when you look into it, shows you, yourself, and yourself ten minutes after you die. Those who trek out and find this supernatural phenomenon sometime find this too much to take, and ten minutes later, the mirror only shows one image.
They say a lot of things. They say somewhere in this town is a writer who may or may not be possessed by the devil himself, and every word he writes comes true. Imagine that, the devil’s plaything, who could easily take over the world with a flick of his wrist. It makes you think why it hasn’t happened yet. Maybe, he’s waiting, anticipating.
So long, and goodnight.
At times, there may be things that you can’t explain. Maybe you see yourself doing things you know you’re not doing, or a sound that can’t possibly be real. It might be all in your mind, or it could be the devil at work. Sin couldn’t possibly be the devil’s tool, there’s too much of it, even he wouldn’t be able to control it. Creativity is his weapon of choice. Talent. A man enraged with a fit of passion for creating something will do anything in his power to make it come true. Murder, rape, theft.
A man of a relatively old age walks out of the electronics superstore where he works. He’s recently been promoted to head manager, and even though he hates his job, his wife smiles upon the accomplishment. See, he was once apart of a local factory that closed down due to a CEO who decided it was better to export jobs for a bigger profit. Now, as he walks out onto the pavement of the dimly lit parking lot, his car, the only car left, glows from the fluorescent streetlights. The cops will say he interrupted a grand theft auto, and the thieves simply shot him in the throat. However, the old man will simply say, “Shit.”
It was the CEO’s dream, his ambition to make more money, that led to the old man being killed. Yet, it was the CEO’s father, a gambler who used to beat his wife, and never had enough money for the CEO to have a decent meal, that drove the CEO to his current status. The events that lead up to a tragedy can never be traced back far enough, so as human beings, we decide to blame something else that could never be proved wrong.
We call it ‘the devil’.
So what would happen if this fictitious threat wasn’t as fictitious as he led us all to believe? What if one day the devil got tired of taking the blame for so many things?
The greatest irony in the Christian world? The devil was once a handpicked angel of God.
Perhaps the next time a group of teenagers decide to break into a graveyard late at night, they’ll blame something else when the undead crawl from the ground and attack. What stops the devil from doing it now, taking it all over today? Restraint? ‘Cause it’s written in a book that he must wait until the ‘revelations’ come from God? In my knowledge, it is not in the devil’s best interests to wait for a sign from God. Unless, the devil is still an angel, undercover, you might say. Given his army by God’s own hand, to wait, and when the right moment comes, pick up, and loot through the scum of the earth for the ones that never fell into temptation? It is in no man’s right mind to pick a fight against God, nevermind the circumstances. He created you. He can destroy you. You will not win. So what is it that drives a man to insanity? It might be that the sin of the earth is merely not temptation. The sin of the earth, and of every man woman and child, is that they want to defy God, and everything he says.
On the car ride home, she’ll see things she can’t explain. People sleeping homeless on the side of the road. She’ll think, “It’s the CEO’s fault, he chose money over morality.” But what she won’t understand is that for every man, there is a father who made the man the way he is. It’s an endless cycle. So, who is man’s father? That’s right. You’re beginning to understand.
The devil was handpicked by God, his father, to do the things he will eventually do. It might be the shortest strain of this ridiculous theory available to study. Throughout the ages, these strains have become so deep and complicated, you can’t see the beginning, even if you try. You start out with the purest form of pure, the boss, God. And every step away from him, ever father and child, is a little less pure, leading to the world we live in now. Full of crime, decadence, everything. It just gets worse with every generation.
So the next time you blame the devil for every problem on the earth, just remember.
The devil is only one step away from purity.
