So I got a mild bout of food poisoning yesterday, or at least I'm pretty sure it was food poisoning. Long story short, I ate a breakfast bar at 4 am, took my doxycyline pill, went to bed, got up at 10 am, and threw it all up at 11 am. So it coulda been a bad reaction with the doxycyline.
So I drank water for a few hours after that (opting to skip lunch), and threw all that up at about 2:30 pm. It was at about this time that I decided to visit the TMC (Troop Medical Clinic) for an IV and a diagnosis. You know, 'cuz not being able to drink water in the desert is kindof a bad thing.
So an hour and a half after I get there, I get seen, and the attendant proceeds to take my blood pressure and pulse not once, not twice, but five times. After the first two, she thought she should check them while I was laying down, sitting up, and standing. Yes, lady, my pulse rate is over 100, deal with it.
So finally, the doc sees me, informs me that I am pretty seriously dehydrated (no duh! I had only asked for an IV when I first got there because, ya know, I've been throwing up all day!), and has the attendant take me to the patient holding area and give me an IV. They also gave me a shot to help with the nausea.
It took two of the large bags just to get me peeing again. Probably could have taken a third bag, but it was 7 pm by that point, they were closing up shop, and I was mentally through anyway. She gave me 24 hours quarters and prescribed me an anti-nausea suppository, which needs to be refridgerated, and since I don't have a refridgerator, I left that little box in my office area.
I'm doing much better today, but taking it kinda easy. They treated me pretty well, and I'm grateful, but I'm still kinda taken aback that it took over two hours to get an IV.
