Comics I Follow

Aug 25, 2010 18:11

D and I were talking about webcomics in the car today.

Here's a list of what I follow currently!

Applegeeks (+AGlite) - It's kind of like Megatokyo used to be, in that it's funny and it has a robot girl. But with significantly less emo crap and sad girls in snow. And with more western comic influence. Basically it's just better than Megatokyo, but they're friends or something so whatever. AG Lite is a quick little strip-format side-comic that updates more often than the big one. [AG: most mondays, AGlite: m/w/f]
Awkward Zombie - Gaming comics. Early focus was on Smash Bros, but nowadays it's mostly Zelda, WoW, Pokemon, and things that happen in the artist's life. Somtimes there are zombies, but rarely. [mondays]
Broken Plot Device - Furry comic in that the characters are animals, but you could just as easily swap them out with humans. Well, except for maybe Inix, but she's.... special. Also, it has an adorable little robot dinosaur. The artist does not draw porn, so don't freak out about the "furry" thing. [monday/thursday]
Dinosaur Comics - Dinosaurs talk about everyday things and also sometimes AWESOME things, and people get stepped on in the meantime. It's admittedly an acquired taste. [m/t/w/h/f]
girly - A tale of a girl and another girl, and their adventures. Contains lesbians and dildos, but isn't a porn comic, honest! It's nearing the end of its run, so now's a good time to start going through the archive so you'll be ready for the finale. [sporadic updates]
Gorgeous Princess Creamy Beamy - A girl discovers she is actually an alien princess with magical powers which are powered by junk food. Seriously, at one point she gets decapitated and is able to regenerate because her head landed in a room filled with M&Ms. Pokes fun at various anime tropes. Unfortunately the artist is a bit busy with other comics lately, but there's usually still a new page or two every month. [sporadic updates]
Indexed - Graphs and venn diagrams of various things in life. A bit hit-or-miss. [m/t/w/h/f]
Lackadaisy - Prohibition-era comic about bootleggers. Also, they're all cats. Fantastic artwork. [sporadic updates]
mamabliss (all related) - a variety of porn comics for various fetishes. The style is an acquired taste, but it's really quite neat just as art and not as porn. While technically a paysite, each story gets posted for free one page at a time, older stories get "rerun" in their entirety on a rotating basis, and there are several free-to-read archives from past or failed projects. There's even a comic featuring one of my characters! NSFW, ever. [daily whenever a new story is ready]
Moon Over June - This is actually just one of the comics on Slipshine, but recently has been given its own site where the archives are slowly being made available for free. A comic about two lesbians who live together. One of them makes a living as a porn star, and it's from an adult comics paysite, so it should go without saying that it is NSFW. Funny as hell, though. Lots of math-nerdiness. [m/w/f until caught up]
Octopus Pie - Asians, stoners, organic grocers, weird pets, Brooklyn. Lots of awkward relationships. Also, beards. [m/w/f, subject to change]
Oglaf - Medieval fantasy comics. Sometimes porny but not as a rule. Still, pretty much NSFW (though the archives mark which ones are safe).[sundays]
Real Life Comics - Pretty much exactly what it says on the tin. Greg usually does the comic about things that have happened to him, or that could have happened if one could actually time-travel, and other such things. This one probably has the largest archive of anything on this list, but odds are you already know about this comic. It's been around quite awhile. [m/t/w/h/f, plus one on the weekends if you donate]
Sinfest - It's like Calvin & Hobbes, only more grown up. Occasionally features kanji lessons! Frequently features God and the Devil fucking around with things. Another one of those you-probably-already-read-it series. [daily]
Super Effective - Pokemon comics following Red's storyline. More reliably funny than VGCats, and also gets updated more. He should probably just switch to doing this comic instead. [sporadic updates]
Three Panel Soul - Remember Mac Hall? Same guys. Ian uses this comic to experiment with art styles. Usually it's pretty neat! Every strip is three panels. Sometimes there are gaming references. [mondays]
VGCats - Cat-people and video game parodies. Another one you probably know, and have probably made fun of for never fucking updating and only delivering with a mediocre comic when it finally does. I still like a lot of the older ones, though. [updates randomly]
xkcd - Everyone reads this. I'm not even going to bother explaining it. [m/w/f]
