So hey those new Bagel Twists at Dunkin' Donuts. They're pretty tasty! I understand other regions have additional flavors besides the cheddar and cinnamon-raisin, but since DD has for SOME REASON decided to not offer those in THEIR HOME REGION (wtg guys ;_;) I can only offer my opinions on the standard two.
Personally I prefer the cheddar. I like cheesy breads, and I'm not terribly fond of raisins as an ingredient (though I like them just fine on their own). Raisins make things too sweet for me. But I did notice something: the cheddar Twists leave grease stains on the paper bag, while the cinnamon-raisin ones don't. Oh dear.
So which one's healthier? LET'S GO TO THE CHARTS.
Cheddar: 400 kcal, 9g fat (4.5g saturated), 20mg cholesterol, 800mg sodium, 63g carbs (5g fiber, 5g sugar), 17g protein.
Cinnamon-Raisin: 350 kcal, 3.5g fat (0.5g saturated), 460mg sodum, 72 carbs (5g fiber, 19g sugar), 11g protein (wait, what?).
Summary:
Cheddar is more fattening due to the cheese, but that cheese also provides protein and calcium (15% versus 2% in the cinnamon-raisin).
Cinnamon-raisin is higher in sugar (due to the frosting drizzle and the raisins) but dodges the fat and cholesterol that you get from the cheese.
Either way, they are both healthier than any of the muffins DD sells, and just as filling if you ask me. Less messy too! I hope they stay around for awhile. I would happily switch to them for good (at least until it's pumpkin muffin season again lol).
Hopefully I'll be able to finish Toothless tonight! Look forward to it!
