I think (if Tracy will agree) that I am going to wait until she is here on Friday and Saturday to post our entry about the trip. That way, we can do it together with pictures and such, and then just cross-post it in both of our journals.

In other news, I wanted to let everyone know some really incredibly sad news. My beloved, amazing, wonderful, perfect cat Henry passed away Monday afternoon. I am still kind of in shock about it; I wonder why I didn't post sooner. It's been a busy week. He was almost 17, which is pretty old for a cat, I guess. It just happened really suddenly is all. So, R.I.P. Henry Willoughby Butler-Mayes, the most fantastic, affectionate, intelligent, adorable cat anyone could ever ask for. I know that he will be missed not only by our family, but by all of you who loved him, too. Whoever has any doubts about whether animals have souls obviously did not know this cat.

It is pouring outside; gross. Rain in the winter is the worst.

My room is going to be rearranged soon; perhaps tonight when Tiffney gets back from chapter. We'll see. It would be amazing if we were allowed to hang things on the walls. I hate how bare my room (and our whole apartment, for that matter) looks.

I don't understand why people are so resigned to admitting defeat when it comes to New Year's Resolutions. Come on, don't we as humans have any will power whatsoever? Maybe we are setting the goals a little too high or something, but come on! Shouldn't we all be striving for constant improvement? In keeping with this belief, I have been doing very well with my NYRs. I have gotten up early and gone to Ramsey to work out 5 out of the last 7 days. I am going to do it every day of the school week, all semester (except holidays). I really, really want to be in shape. Also, I started writing in a beautiful paperblanks journal, courtesy of Mr. Jon Mayes, and I hope to keep that up. I have never been very successful in keeping a long-term journal (with the exception of LJ, which doesn't really count). Similarly, but in a much more intimidating way, my friend Alejandro (Alex) Crawford from GHP invited me to join this UGA Online Lit Mag facebook group, where members post original poetry and prose for the rest of the group to read and I guess critique. Currently, I am just an observer, but I would love to submit something if I had anything. Writing is really hard for me. If any of you facebookers are interested in the group, it's called poet/scop & proser. You have to submit a request to be added, but I think it's going to be pretty sweet so you should check it out (hint hint, Rachel, Paul, etc). You could probably post lyrics as well, so Daniel or you other songwriters, feel free.

I miss Emily Wilsford. Over the break, we decided to be pen pals for the coming semester, in hopes of eventually starting a revival of snail mail. This afternoon I put the first letter in the mail; I hope she gets it soon. I'm excited.

Um, I think this post would be waaaaay sweeter if I added a picture. Hmm...give me a second to browse my photobucket...

Isn't that one of the prettiest things you've ever seen? That was our view from the airplane on the flight to Newark. Tracy made fun of me for being so excited about flying, but I love it! Being that high above the earth is so humbling.

And in conclusion, The Apprentice 3 may be premiering tonight and I need to end this entry so I can go check. Hooray for silly Donald Trump reality show addictions!
