Easter thoughts
Watching the cardinals play at Houston right now. Not in my baseball groove yet and feeling distracted.
Just a few update-y type things:
- Not that I'm certain anyone cares, but I ushered the matinee of Spring Awakening today and Krysta Rodriguez was on as Wendla. Bleah. I obviously didn't stay for the whole show, as it's still going on as I type, but I did stay long enough to get a gauge of Rodriguez's performance. Basically, I can't believe how much the show suffers without Lea Michele. She brings a purity and sweetness (not to mention a gorgeous voice) to Wendla that Rodriguez, unfortunately, can't come close to matching. I was pretty surprised, as Rodriguez always looks so great and fiery on the side of the stage. On top of that, she's got a horrible pile of frizzy yarn for a wig (Lea Michele has long hair already and doesn't need one) so although she's a pretty girl, she doesn't look very attractive.
- BEER! I'm loving life post-Lent. This week I'm going to brew a raspberry wheat and maybe next week, an ESB! I'm going to have my entire stash all ready for the summerlong brewing vacation!
- More theatre: going to see In the Heights tonight, and Grey Gardens (FINALLY!!!) on Tuesday, and Oliver Twist on Wednesday. Next week will be Coram Boy on Wednesday, and 110 in the Shade on 4/21. Thank you, TDF, for allowing me to see so much theatre during my birthday month!
- The cardinals NYC gang is getting together on my birthday (4/16) for a watch party and a bunch of beers. Any cardinals fans in NYC interested in joining us (you know who you are, Jesse)?
