I've only met one other person who has done what I think is the normal amount of work necessary when they lost a pet.
Most never did any sort of looking. :/
Home from the shelter and going out to pass out fliers to the last few houses I haven't already hit. I've hit pet stores, several Vet clinics, most of the homes on surrounding streets, etc. I've walked hours & hours. When it's dark, I'm bummed out that I can't be out walking around alone. I get in the car and drive slowly, calling out her name through the open car window. I've been staying up late, and walking outside every 20 minutes or so, to call her name.
I also put a tiny 4-line, "lost" ad in the newspaper along with everyone else's lost pets.
Tonight I'm picking up envelopes to mail out photo fliers to the Vet clinics that I can't go to because I can't get out of working. I printed addresses of Vet clinics within a 15-mile radius. Something like 50 Vet clinics...I couldn't believe there were that many within such a short instance.
!! Some guy came to the door in his undies yesterday! He had no idea I was standing on the other side of his door. He was opening the door a little to let his cat in, while I was trying to put a flier on his doorknob. I shoved a flier at him really fast, said thanks and took off. I heard him say, "Sorry...I didn't know you were there!", while I was stepping off his porch.
I thought I would put Scotchie's flier here for journal reasons. (Tell me if it kicks out the alignment of your friends page and I'll fix it when I come back). The photos aren't big, but the table is wide.
