forgive your past; simply be mine.

You wake up.
You brush your teeth.
You shave your face.
You never forget the usual.

The routine.
The mundane.
The Monday through Friday ordeal.
The "making ends meet."

Then one morning.
Or maybe one afternoon you wake up;
you don't remember when you bought the clothes in your closet.
Or the man whos ring you wear.
You have slept.
You have moved.
You have survived.

It's like waking up from a dream.
The world is fuzzy.
You don't recognise your face in the mirror.
When did you begin to age?

Where are the parts of you that seem to be missing?
Broken.
You're a stranger in your own skin.

Desperate for someone's love to soothe the cracked callouses that are your heart;
just like salve upon a farmer's hands in the wintertime.

Your head begins to spin.

You begin to realize it's never been worth it.

It was all lies.

Your whole life.
Your being.
Your God.
You blood.

It was all lies.

Is it worth the trouble?
Will it ever be?

"I know, I have a fickle heart and a bitterness. And a wondering eye and a heaviness in my head. Don't you remember the reason you loved me before? Baby, please remember me once more."
