Copied from The S'cubie Board:

I'm sorry to have to tell you all this, but Nan died yesterday afternoon (Tuesday, March 7) at Christ Hospital here in Cincinnati. Although she had not been feeling well for about a week, she thought it was a combination of the flu and over exertion. We had agreed that, between us, we would get her a doctor ( Read more... )

Oh, my god *is stunned*. I'd known she wasn't well for a long time but ... oh my god.

Also, something I didn't start remembering to tell people until further down the thread, but she loved your writing.

Julia, she and I had a long conversation about "Hearth" once

Oh how awful. :-(

I didn't know her, but I knew of her, and I'm sure that this loss will be felt deeply.

[hugs you]

Thanks so much.

She was a funny, tough, independant and responsible old broad. I wish I'd got a chance to meet her in person.

Julia, candles are good

Also- started with paratti but she really appreciated your work, too, especially "Eyes Only" and the I&A stories.

Julia, although she agreed with you about the Spike and Giles stuff- better than the general run of fic but not nearly as good as your later work.

That is so gracious of you to share, Julia. (The only time I'd seen Nan's comment on my fic was where she dismissed my early work as utterly 'forgettable' -- you're much kinder ;-)).

But thank you so much for thinking of others at this time, and I send hugs and the goodness of a lit candle to you, as well as to her family.

I'm stunned, and deeply saddened.

My deepest condolences to all her friends and family.

Thanks, Lesley.

You know she admired your Spike a lot, right?

Julia, Nan's let a legacy of comments in the Reading Recs thread at the S'cubie Board.

I didn't. I feel really quite choked now.

Legacies are important and she's left a fine one.
Though that doesn't make it easier.

She should have left more comments- as she was the first to admit; coming out of the print world, she never quite got the rhythm of online feedback.

Nan was Spuffy through and through, and was into the fourth or fifth long story in an AU epic. She also wrote Fic for Trek Zines and was involved in that fandom back as far as it goes, and was one of the BNFs in the Beauty and The Beast fandom before all this new-fangled online stuff.

Julia, a lot oif Fandom Institutional Memory is gone
