I'm back

I'm back and much happier with my life now than I was after finding out my parents bought a house in Portugal a while ago. It's in Terceira, the Azores, so they'll be two hours away by plane. I flipped out for a while but now I'm better. It definitely doesn't mean I'm going to live in Portugal for the rest of my life, it's just something that they've always wanted to do. I'll still be coming to Turlock for the summers and this spring break too. Poor little Spice is going to have to move too, and she can't go direct but has to switch in London and then in Lisbon. Plus she can't go anesthetized and gets carsick after ten minutes. So hopefully she makes it.

I had three weeks off for finals and it was pretty fun. Carnival here is pretty cool, it's like a week of halloween for kids and adults alike. It's not a fraction as cool as Brazil, especially because of the temperature difference, but what can you do. Lisbon isn't very exciting, so I went to another little town with my cousin and bought a purple bob wig that I want to wear everyday now. I'm getting better at cooking, even though I made some enchiladas yesterday that were absolutely terrible. But it was the recipe of course. I went on a trip with my friend's youth group this weekend and experienced just a little bit of the famous cold up north. I put on two wool sweaters and two blankets and couldn't sleep the entire night because of the cold. And neither could the girl in my room. My cousins say at their grandma's house they have to sleep on their backs because they can't move with seven blankets on them and they still are freezing cold. I definitely appreciate my warm bed a lot more now.
