He who takes medicine and ignores diet wastes the time of his doctor. - Chinese Proverb
Seriously. I don’t think I can stress this enough. It does not matter what medications you’re taking…
If you’re ignoring the food you put in you..
If you’re eating crap you’re going to feel like crap!
It may taste good, now, but that was pretty much learned. Wanna prove it to yourself? Try this:
For the next 30 days eat only unprocessed foods.
That means that for 1 month you eat nothing that comes out of a can. Fresh fruits, fresh vegetables, and unprocessed meats. (That means stuff like hot dogs and bologna are right out the window.)
If you make it the full 30 days, or even just a couple weeks, then go have a hamburger and fries. Pay attention to how your stomach feels about it. Chances are they’re going to sit in your stomach like a rock, be hard to digest and you’ll wind up constipated from it.
We can digest the ultra-processed, greasy stuff, yes, but that in no way means it’s good for us.
I’ve heard people joke about eating preservatives to help stay young…
Please.. -.-
Yea, sure. Life is all about the journey, not the destination. Enjoy it while you’ve got it. Slide into your coffin going “wow, what a ride!” I’m down with that. Truly!
But not at the expense of feeling like crap during the entire journey to that coffin.
I don’t know about you, but I don’t like feeling sluggish and sick all the time.
I prefer having energy and feeling happier because my body feels healthier.
If you’ve been following me from the beginning, you’ve probably heard me rant a bit about how much we, as a nation (USA), spend on health care every year. I remember linking from somewhere that the vast majority of why we wind up in doctor offices and hospitals is due to our weight. Our dietary health!
I’m not writing any of this to step on toes or stand on a soap box. Contrary to how it might seem. *chuckle* What I want is for people to
1) Take ownership of what they’re doing to themselves, and
2) Stop wasting the time of the already over-burdened medical facilities.
If your doctor has told you that your situation can be improved, or fixed completely, by changing your diet…and you don’t do anything about it..? Why bother going back to the doctor? It’s a waste of his/her time, and yours. Not to mention a waste of money.
Anyway, I’ll leave it at that. People are, obviously, welcome to eat more or less whatever they want. I strongly encourage you to consider altering your diet if you’re feeling like crap though. That goes for physical, mental and emotional crud. Chances are pretty good that any and all of those things can at least be improved by eating less processed food and more whole foods.
