The Valley of Dry Bones...

12Therefore prophesy and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, O my people, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel. 13 And ye shall know that I am the Lord, when I have opened your graves, O my people, and brought you up out of your graves, 14 And shall put my spirit in you, and ye shall live, and I shall place you in your own land: then shall ye know that I the LORD have spoken it, and performed it, saith the LORD.

~Ezekiel 37:12-14

In Ezekiel 37 of the Bible, the prophet Ezekiel was carried out in the spirit of the Lord into the midst of a valley filled with very dry bones. As he was there, the Lord asked him if those very bones could live and told Ezekiel to prophesy to the bones, saying unto them, "O ye dry bones, hear the word of the Lord." As Ezekiel was obedient in saying what the Lord told him to say, the bones began to quake and connect with each other. Sinews and flesh came upon the bones, and skin did as well. The Lord told Ezekiel to prophesy to the wind so that it could breathe the breath of life upon they who were slain, so that they might live. As the wind did that, they lived and stood up and were a great army. The rest of the verses tell of how the Lord united them with one leader and made them a great nation, Israel.

My thought was if Ezekiel was able to prophesy to those dry bones and cause them to come back to to life in the form of a great army of people, WHAT stops me from doing something so great? The answer is nothing. There is nothing, NO THING, that can stop me from speaking life and truth into a situation. I believe the only thing that may pose as a hindrance is me, my limited faith. When it is that people begin to take matters into their own hands and trust in things that are not of Christ, then it is that there will not be any good as a result. However, if I give whatever it is to God, then and ONLY then will the situation ever get better. Faith is not something that one should have in and of his or her self, but is something that the Lord has to give them. If one trusts in himself and believes solely in himself to do all things without Christ's help, then it will not work, I guarantee it. The Bible says in Psalm 20:7, "Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the Lord our God."  All in all, I know that I am able to speak to situations, even if they seem impossible, as long as I have TOTAL faith and trust in God. With men, some things are possible, but with God, ALL things are possible.

Another thought that I had was: "What are things in my life that have become dry like the dry bones from Ezekiel 37? What are things in my life that need a touch, a breath of life, some revitalization or rejuvenation?" Are there things in your life that have become dry (not necessarily literally)? Think about it. If there are some things, you ought to ask the Lord to breathe into you or whatever has become dry, so that it can live again.

Speak life to your dry bones.
