My visit to Coventry

Jul 21, 2010 23:57

I've been cajoled, nudged and persuaded to do a post. :p   I realise I'm a bad LJ friend, so I'm adding some pics of a recent shopping trip to Coventry.  It's a city that was flattened during the second World War and one of it's famous landmarks is two cathedrals.  The old one was bombed and instead of re-building it they decided to put one next to it.  I actually wasn't too sure where it was, but i walked down a side street and found it by accident.

On the way to the centre, I love these flowers.

This is one of the shopping centres

This is the statue to Lady Godiva, who rode naked through
the streets of coventry to protest about taxes.

The entrance to the old cathedral

These are just pics of inside.....

I really like this statue called 'Reconciliation'

A road to the side of the cathedral.

A pub on the same road called the Golden Cross.

They built this weird sort of bridge thing leading to the
Transport Museum.

This time zone clock fascinated me.

I think that's enough to send you all to sleep so my job is done. :)  Sorry about the small size of the pictures but I'm no computer expert.
