Seeing Eye, Day 1

Nov 28, 2017 20:21

Note: Please excuse any spelling errors, as I do not have my Mac on this trip.
Following are abbreviations I will use:
DTC=Downtown Training Centre
TSE=The Seeing Eye

I arrived bright and early for my 6:30 flight to Newark, NJ. The flight had quite a lot of terbulance, but all was fine.
We were met at baggage by Leigh, one of the seasoned instructors, and were taken to TSE.
Shannon is my instructor, and Walt is our class supervisor. We have 18 students in our class, which is the retrain class.
It was great seeing everyone, and to me, it really feels like coming home, when returning to TSE.
Learning the new renovated building was fun.
There are now doors in every stairwell, and a new elevator.
There is a tactile map with Braille on every floor as well.
The common lounge seems larger than before. There are two exits for the common lounge, and the table is nearer the kitchenette. There is a nice coffee machine with 8 options for a hot beverage of choice. Braille is next to each button.
The rooms are similar to what I remembered, but we now have safes, and the bathrooms no longer echo.
We also have Amazon Eccos in every room, as well as soft sided crates for the dogs.
All of our grooming equipment, Mut Mat, and tie down were on top of the crate.
The pin Brush is the same as Kerry’s, and our finishing brush is larger and has a strap for your hand. We also have a comb.
The downstairs men’s and womens lounges have a Keurig, and we can order K-Cups if we wish.
I unpacked, and had a small Juno walk around the building, and outside. I already am breaking a habit, and we’re on the first day.
We had our intro lecture, and were given our leashes, and Nylabones. We also received a memory stick with the lectures.
Around 9:00 I crashed.
