Raindrops on roses and... cars that won't start?

The past few days have actually been very good.  Yes, that's right.  You heard me.  They have been very good.

Not in the Kyle sense.  He's been horrible.  So I'll get that out of the way by writing about it first.

Erin was sitting at the same table he was in history on Friday.  She's my partner for the history project.  So I went to sit next to her.  A minute later, Kyle gathered his things and moved to a different table.

Ben told me that a few days ago in art, Kyle drew multiple red lines across his wrist and said to him, "Hmmm.  I wonder who this will make mad."  Ben said he wanted to hit him.

At Andrew's farewell concert, Kyle did everything in his power to not end up near me.  He talked to Nikki.  And Liz.  Not me.  He picked up Nikki and kept spinning her around while Cailey, Becky and I were standing right there.  He danced with Nikki.  Then when he was leaving, he came over to Cailey, Becky and I and gave Becky a huge hug even though he didn't talk to her all night.  And he said bye to her.  He was walking away and I yelled, "BYE!"  I was ready to hit him.  But then Cailey made Becky and I happy.  We were listening to Anchors play, and Kyle was standing in front of us with Nikki.  Suddenly Cailey leaned over towards them.  Becky and I looked at her.  I asked Becky if she knew what Cailey was doing.  She was as clueless as I was.  When Cailey walked back over to us, we asked what she did.  Her response?  "I just hocked a giant snotty wad of spit on him."  I love Cailey!  Becky gave her a high five.

I'm still really hurt by what he's doing, but instead of it making me feel really sad, it's making me feel very bad for him.  Because he's so immature and mean.  Whatever.  I have good friends who think he's being ridiculous.  Which he is.  Everything else I can take, but what he did in art just really hurt.

Alright.  End of the bad stuff.  Onto the good.

Thursday night was the kick off concert for the tour Anchors For Reality is going on.  Many of us were there to see Andrew off.  When we paid, we had to get marks on us, and Andrew drew a heart on my cheek, and on the inside of it, Randy wrote "Randrew" for him and Andrew :-)  It was sweet.

Christina was there!  She cut her hair.  She looks so awesome.  It was great to see her.  I miss her so much!

Three bands played before Anchors.  The Exoskeletons (Jordan's band) was first.  They were good.  Then Crio played.  They were awesome.  Then was Two Faced Heroes, who has always been incredible.  Then Anchors played.  They were so good.  There must have been at least 200 people there, Jordan said.  I'm horrible at estimating, so I'm going to pretend he's right.  I have no idea how many people were there, but there were lots.  Everyone was singing along to their songs.  It was so great.  They were awesome!  Randy looked great jamming around with his bass, Scott was just banging the shit out of his drums, Alex sounded incredible with his guitar and vocals, and Andrew looked like he was having the time of his life with his guitar.  It was a great time.  It really was.  I bought a t-shirt and CD of theirs to help support them.  They sounded so amazing.  Seriously.  It was great.  I'm so excited for them.
His mom actually came.  With his brother and sister.  It really surprised me.  He was surprised as well.  She didn't even come to his graduation.

Afterwards I gave Andrew his going away gift.  It was meant to be his graduation present, but I couldn't finish it on time so I gave it to him as a tour gift.  It was the photo album with all of the pictures of Stratford, my birthday and everything else.  And I wrote him a letter.  I'm going to miss him so much.  What am I going to do without my big brother?  Now I'm just stuck with Jeremy, who really doesn't care all that much.  When something's really wrong with me he'll care and be awesome.  But other times?  He doesn't really pay much attention.

Cailey and I stayed to listen to the band that was after Anchors for a bit.  They were really good.  They were called Deja Nor'mal.  I liked them a lot.  Then we had to go and say goodbye to Andrew.  That was hard.  We kept giving each other hugs.  I'm really going to miss him a lot.  He said he'll be home for Christmas, which is good, because I told him if he wasn't I'd kill him.  And he said he promised, because he's scared of me ;-)  Then he gave me another hug and told me to take care of myself.  I promised I would.  He said he'll also be home for my graduation.  Which he better!  I believe him.  He will be.  He signed my Anchors CD for me and wrote "I <3 Nina" on it.  He called me on Friday night to tell me how their first show went.  But I wasn't home :-(  I was at Conners's.  So I'll call him when I'm done with this.

(Awww, Jeremy just told me something Jim said last night.  Jeremy was asking him what college he's thinking of going to, and Jim said, "Ah, I don't know.  Probably wherever your sister goes to."  Hehe.  I love Jim.)

Friday was pretty good.  I missed so much school.  3rd and 4th hour we had this choir thing for Veteran's Day down in the park.  So that was fun.  Then NHS left school at 2:30 to go to the Petoskey United Methodist Church to set up for our spaghetti dinner.  We had a nice turnout.  It wasn't terrible.  We raised $750 for the American Red Cross.  We had a bunch of food left over.  So Rene, Becky, Elise and I took it over to the Neimiah House.  All of the guys there was so pleased.  It was such a wonderful feeling.  They appreciated it so much.  I have never felt better than I did when we saw their faces as we carried the many boxes of food into their kitchen.  It was amazing.

After the spaghetti dinner I went over to Cailey and Holly's and spent the night.  Cailey and I hung out all Saturday while Holly was with Travis.  We watched Lords of Dogtown.  It was such a good movie!!!!  Then Alex came over and she, Cailey, Holly and I hung out.  Then we went to get pizza and we ate it downtown in the park by the canon.  It was fun.  We saw Jim leaving Johnny and Travis' across the street, so we yelled to him and he came over and talked to us for awhile.  Then we all got into his car and drove over to Cailey and Holly's while listening to Taking Back Sunday because he wanted to see where their new apartment was.  Then he dropped us off back downtown and went back to Johnny and Travis'.

Cailey, Holly, Alex and I ran around downtown in the dark.  This group of "gangster" guys was on the corner by JC Penny's, and when we walked by, they whistled at us so we ran down the street shrieking and laughing.  We ran over to Central playground to play.  It was hilarious.  Every single sound made us scream and duck under some play thing.  Holly kept screaming over and over.  It was so funny.  Whenever a car would drive by, she'd scream.  One of them was a cop car too ;-)  Then Cailey and I started singing Helena as loud as we could :-)  The lights at the school kept going on and off which made Holly scream even more.  It was so funny.  Cailey and I kept scaring her by saying our town was made out of wax and we were all going to die by being turned into wax people.  That's when that "gangster" group walked by across the street, and then three of us began shrieking and trying to hide under the merry-go-round thing, which did absolutely nothing since there were no sides of it!  It was so funny.  Cailey and I fell in the sand laughing.

After we left Central we ran around town some more.  That's when it started to rain.  So we ran across town back to my car.  We all got in.  I put the key in the ignition.  It wouldn't start.  I tried six different times.  And still it would not start.  I didn't leave the lights on.  The doors had all been shut correctly.  It just wouldn't start.  It was so weird.  We think those guys messed with it, even though they couldn't have since there was no way to do anything to it :-)

So we ran across the street in the rain shrieking and laughing all the way up the stairs to Travis' apartment.  He was at work, but we knew Adrienne was there because Jim had been over.  Jim's car was gone, so we couldn't ask him.  Johnny, Craig and Liam were all out.  We only hoped that Adrienne was still there.  She wasn't.  So we sat in that hallway for half an hour.  We called everyone we could think of.  We didn't have Jim's number memorized so we couldn't get a hold of him.  We called Ben, but he wasn't home.  Mrs. Cheney said she'd have him call as soon as he got home.  We called Katie.  No answer.  We called Kendahl.  No answer.  So we waited some more.  Then Kerry and her friend came up because they were going to the third floor apartment to see Cody.  We told her to send someone down who could help us.  She sent Joe.  JOE!  Joe doesn't even have a car!  But then Johnny got home and let us in.  We watched TV with him for a bit before Craig and Adrienne both got there a few minutes apart from each other.  About half an hour later, Ben called.  Holly asked where he was.

Get this.

He was downtown right by my car!!!!!  How he knew where we were and where my car was parked, we have no idea.  I'm going to ask him on Monday because that was just too weird.  We didn't tell his mom where we were.  We just told her to have him call us on Holly's cell.  And he did.  From downtown.  Right next to my car.  It was so weird.

Cailey and I decided to let Alex and Holly stay upstairs with Johnny, Adrienne and Craig.  We braved the rain and wind and creepy guys at the bar to go down and meet Ben.  We left the apartment.  It was still raining.  This time it was raining harder.  We were getting ready to walk across the street to where my car was when we saw this guy leaning in front of a tree in front of the Petoskey Chamber of Commerce.  Cailey and I leaned to each other and said, "Oh man.  That's creepy."  A few seconds later, we realized it was Ben!  So we laughed.  And we ran over and hugged him and thanked him for "saving us".  Jin was sitting in the front seat of Ben's car, and we waved to him.  I unlocked my car.  As I did so, I said to Cailey through the rain, "Wouldn't it be funny if my car just started?"  I got in.  Put my key in the ignition.  And my car started.  Cailey and I screamed.  Ben looked at us like we were crazy.  Even though we are ;-)  Then we laughed.  We sat on the curb, in the rain, and laughed.  We had tried starting my car with Holly and Alex over and over again.  Six times.  And nothing happened.  It was just dead.  The moment I got in to start it when we actually had help, it started!  It was so weird.  Ben had to get going, so we let him go.  We stayed on the sidewalk and laughed.  It was raining and freezing so Cailey and I huddled together, soaking wet, and ran across the street back to the apartment.  Holly and Alex couldn't believe it when we told them the car had started.  It was hilarious.

We stayed and watched some more TV with Craig for bit while Cailey and I dried off.  As we were leaving, Travis came home from work.  So Holly ditched us and rode with Travis back to their house.  They got their first.  As Cailey, Alex and I pulled up to the driveway, Holly and Travis were huddled together and we did not want to see that, so we drove around the loop once more screaming The Used.  Travis left by the time we got back, thank goodness!  Holly fell asleep on the floor.  Cailey, Alex and I fell asleep on the futon.  I forget what we were watching.

We laid around and watched Star Wars III this morning.  It was fun.  I had to leave eventually because I have to finish college applications to get out tomorrow to Mrs. Scott.

It was a fun weekend.

I need some excitement, I need someplace to go
Jump in the backseat, take off all your clothes
I need to move forward, I need permanent to secure my life, I thought it over once or twice

Not like it'll ever happen when you put it down and just start laughing
Live life, breathe it like it's the last time

And I wanted, and I needed, so kill me or fake it
'Cause I'm not sure if I can figure this out, I'm never certain
But kill me, or fake it

I want to live life, I want to taste it, put it on my plate
Then give me a drag, give me a cigarette, give it a shot feeling naked
Is it just clean fun?  When you are unsure

Not like it'll ever happen when you put it down and just start laughing
Live life, breathe it like it's the last time

And I wanted, and I needed, so kill me or fake it
'Cause I'm not sure if I can figure this out, I'm never certain
But kill me, or fake it
- Anchors For Reality; Kill Me or Fake It

"Well I guess it's true, I never needed you..."
