WE HAS PUPPIES! and a sad death......

Issy went into labor last night and started having her babies. I was in bed, dozing off when I heard her start groweling and then barking. I kept telling her to shut up, but she wouldn't. At 9:15 PM, I decided to look into her kennel to see what she was going on about........there was a puppy, still in his sac almost lifeless! I jumped up and ripped open the sac and suctioned the poor thing and warmed him up. Then a little after 11, another came. Then it was every few minutes a new one would come. I would be working on 1 puppy when I'd have to leave it and break the sac on the new one!!!! At 1 AM, it looked like the last one had arrived.........NOPE! at 2:30 AM, the last one came out.

I had to break the sac on each one, suction the mouth and nose, rub them vigorously until they turned pink and were breathing on their own. And, still, Issy won't have nothing to do with them! I have to force her to lay down and let them suckle. Then, when she falls asleep, I lay down in front of the cage until she jumps up and runs from them again. Rinse and Repeat. I have not been asleep since 8AM yesterday morning........I AM TIRED! Oh, and 1 of the puppies has a cleft pallat......so I'll be taking him in and having him put to sleep today. NOT looking forward to that!

Exhausted now, going to try and nap!

===========================EDIT=================================

I had the little guy put to rest just a little bit ago. It broke my heart!!!!! They wouldn't let me hold him while he passed away because they said his veins were too small for the meds to be given that way, they had to give him a shot directly into his heart and they said it would traumatize me for life if I was in the room. So, I kissed him, told him I loved him and told him to watch for me to get to heaven because I'll sure be watching for him. Then she walked out of my sight with him and I left, I know I couldn't have handled hearing him scream in pain from the cardiac injection! I'm depressed now, gonna go look for some chocolate.
