First of all, high praise to
mentalme85 for her wonderful "James as Dresden" icons! I snagged several, and I am using this one, which is the manip of James as Dresden from the latest book Dead Beat. It actually didn't need much manipulation, as it really looks like James anyway :-) So, go check out her LJ if you have any interest in this type of icon, and are on board with the "James as Dresden" campaign. I have to get a few more postcards out to the PTB - see my last post for names and addresses.
And I am also pimping the new fanfic contest going on at
Marsters Mobsters, and I encourage all my ficwriting buddies (I know you're out there...) to check it out and participate if you have a mind to. It should be fun.
On the home front, we're getting a lot of rain... I mean a lot. After such a dry summer, it's a bit disconcerting. My car seems to have a leak, so the floor on my driver's side is constantly soaked ::sigh:: I'm taking it in to the dealer tomorrow to have them look at it, but I'm just hoping it doesn't a) rust out the bottom of the car or b) mildew the carpeting, giving us a horrible smell.
Hubby and son are doing well. Keeping busy with work and school, respectively. My son actually got a small part in the school fall play, which will be presented next month. He is having fun with that.
I have a rehearsal tomorrow night, and then two gigs over the weekend. Saturday's is the most exciting, as I am playing with my friend Janie and her band - we're talking pretty high-level contra dance music, and she's asked me to sit in with them for a dance here in Connecticut! I'm psyched. Check out her
web site - she has a new CD she just released, and that's the stuff we'll be playing at the dance Saturday. She's also asked me to play with them the following Saturday in Albany, NY, for a dance there, and that one she can actually pay me for. I'm hoping that it leads to more gigs with them :-) And Lisa and I are playing Sunday afternoon here in town for the 2 year anniversary of Molten Java, my favorite coffeehouse where we've played a few times over the summer and fall.
More another time - if you can send Dresden cards for James, that would be great!
