Garbage - Queer

How weird!? Yesterday I heard Skunk Anansie for the first time in something like 12 months. Roll on 24 hours and I hear Garbage for the first time in aeon's and the same song twice on two different radio stations!! I've seen the video for "Only Happy When It Rains" on music TV channels, but on the radio is something else.
I was introduced to the band by a tape trader who was into them in a big way, mainly because he was a record collector and Garbage's early singles were packaged in weird and wonderful ways. The 7" version to this song was released in a perspex sleeve - (Vow was in a metal tin, Subhuman had rubber sleeve, Stupid Girl had a fabric sleeve, Milk has a white card sleeve with a ripple effect and Only Happy... had a die cut card sleeve with a prism board effect and the B side was double grooved, a track from outside to the middle and a different one the opposite way! Wonder how much they are worth now? As a side note, in January 1997 CIN, who compiled the UK singles chart at the time, put a stop to any bands who wanted chart eligibility packaging their singles elaborately!)
When the self titled album was released there seemed to be a huge push with the band and they seemed to be everywhere, no doubt due to famed record producer Butch Vig being in the band. He has produced the likes of AFI, Soul Asylum, L7, Sonic Youth and a minor record by the name of Nevermind!!
I got to see the band live once - and that was enough! A friends band called Reverse supported them at the Civic Hall in Wolverhampton, so I got in for free. Apparently Garbage had been sound checking virtually all day, but when they hit the stage Shirley Manson's vocals were really light weight live.
I don't think I've ever seen the video to this song and I actually didn't have the track in my iTunes library - but I rectified that!
