That's my hometown. That's where I grew up.
Just next door, they held my high school graduation.
My parents went there. My little brother goes there now. He was across campus. He took that class last semester.
NIU is such a huge part of my life, even though I never attended college there. NIU is DeKalb.
It's a disgusting thought to think that a tragedy like this would put a small town like DeKalb on the map, so to speak.
That shooter is a sick fuck who should have just killed himself and himself only. Why take out innocent people?
This whole scene is just quite the shock of a lifetime. NEVER would I have thought it could have happened there. I'm sure those at Virginia Tech thought the same thing.
