so.. I'm helping a friend buy a laptop for study.
She's not a gamer, or a graphic designer or anything.. so the laptop just needs to be able to do wordprocessing, basic web browsing, and probably play the odd movie off DVD. As a result - pretty much any bottom of the line laptop will do everything she needs....
BUT! - she's not got a lot of money and won't for a while as she's going to be studying (chinese medicine!) for a few more years yet. So needing to buy another laptop later isn't a good thing - this laptop has to last for as many years as possible. And I'm worried about bottom of the line laptops being extra cheaply made....
so what I'm looking for is laptops that are not necessarily fast, but have a reputation for being reliable, or at least laptops with a good extended warranty option.
anyone got any pointers?
Oh - also - any places that would be good to go and look at some laptops in person would be nice.... I'm thinking that building full of places on george st, near chinatown.. but anywhere else that can be driven to in sydney is fine, if you have an idea for somewhere that might better have what we want.
I'm hoping to have a start at looking this weekend, and pick something in the next couple of weeks.
thanks!
