Hey, there! For once, a long time's passed since I last posted here (it was last year, you guys!), and surprise, surprise, I can't completely blame work for this!

Well, I can blame work this week. But last week I was actually busy doing something awesome: traveling!

dtissagirl and I had decided last year we should go on a girlie trip, and even though the rest of the gang couldn't go with us, we still managed to have mad fun at São Paulo.

Well, mostly we went to museums (like the Pinacoteca, and the Portuguese Language Museum, and the Football Museum, and the Modern Art Museum), and to street markets and the Municipal Market (where we ate the famous mortadela sandwich)... and speaking of food, good Lord we ate tons, in the some of the most awesomest restaurants ever. And it was amazing.

We also bought a lot of girlie stuff - bath and body products, and perfumes, and make up, and jewelry and handmade trinkets - and all around spent a lot of money, but it was completely worth it.

Can't wait to do it again!

My 2012 didn't started so great, though.

I was charging my kindle in my laptop on New Year's Eve, and when I unplugged it, the screen was completely and utterly frozen.

So it was safe to say I spent the first hours of the new year fretting and worrying about my precious baby.

I tried to reset it in any possible way, with no success whatsoever. I even let it rest for a whole week, while I was getting ready to travel and then when I was in São Paulo, with hope for it to have run out of battery and miraculously start working again, with no such luck.

So last Sunday I contacted Amazon through online chat, and they told me to follow some procedures to try to reset it. I had already tried those, so no surprise that I was again unsuccessful.

And then, just like that, they told me they'd be sending me a new Kindle.

You guys. That was Sunday. They shipped it on Monday. And it arrived here today.

I... have no words. For starters, TWO FREAKING DAYS? Seriously?

Also, they just me sent another kindle, completely free of charge. They even paid the import taxes for me, and refunded the money I spent to mail the defective product back.

I... have no words. Seriously.

I am amazed by their customer's service, at least until now. The whole thing is not over yet, as they did send me an e-mail telling me that they needed to receive my defective kindle in 30 days or they'd charge me the new one they sent me. I already sent it, tracked and insured, but until they get it, I'll be a little worried.

But still, I am really in awe. Ever since I contacted them on Sunday, they solved the problem faster than pretty much any Brazilian company would, no kidding. I'm amazed.

Speaking of capitalism, I finally bought my iPhone!

I was planning to spend, say, X, and ended up spending 2X, but whatever. I really really wanted it, and despite it being probably one of the most expensive single object I have ever bought my entire life, I love it. I'd be completely frustrated if I hadn't gotten it.

I ended up changing phone companies -- for the first time ever too -- so despite buying it on Sunday (it was a pretty busy day!), the whole process just ended yesterday. I still have to import all my contacts (oy), and add songs and buy apps, but I'm already ridiculously happy.

As for work, this week's been tough. I haven't arrived home early - well, not early, but at the usual hour - so far, and things tend to get worse, as we have lots of deadlines and court audiences in the near future.

Also, the new lawyer won't be new much longer: she's leaving the office by the end of the month, and she's such a nice girl, and a good professional too... she will be missed, on all accounts.

But hey, she's happy about her decision, and that's what matters. I just hope we get a substitute soon, because we definitely need more than three lawyers in the office - especially when the two other than me are the bosses.

Oh, well.

So, new kindle and new iPhone. I'm a little overwhelmed, not knowing what to play with first! :)
