I don't think I've mentioned this before, but Rio is hosting the
Military World Games this year.
I'm excited! After missing all the fun with Panamerican games in 2007 due to tests, tests and more tests, I want to watch at least a couple of games. Sure work will be the cockblocker this time, but there's two weekends in the schedule! I must be able to see *something*.
Also, I was walking in the streets today and saw a few ads for the Games, and thought the art was cool. I especially liked
this one. And
this one. And
this one is nice too.
[Oh, and my brother knows
her. She's from my town. :)]
This is exciting! People in uniform! Competing! Should be fun!

Last week was so, so tough that I'm still suffering the after effects. And while yesterday was still a little chaotic, today was better. There was still some adventure, but seriously. After last week? Pffft.
And the worse is, nothing really happened. Well, no, actually a WHOLE LOT happened, but it was all ordinary work stuff, just a lot of 'em happening at the same time. There was no disgrace, no real problem, just... work. In all its glory. Jesus but that sucked.
At least I had the weekend to relax. Except that I didn't, not really, but I still had fun, so there's that. Met the girls (and
andreh, who's an honorary girl anyway) on Saturday on a "all-you-can-eat" restaurant, and we sure ate a lot. Then we went to the mall, like good girlie girls that we are, and then went home because damn we were tired -- at least I can say for myself, I was exhausted.
I also had a nice surprise: a cousin of mine got married on Saturday, and while we're not very close, my other cousin who lives in Minas is, so she came visiting with her family -- including my Goddaughter! We didn't have much time together, as they went back home on Sunday, but we had lunch together, and it was great.
And she's so grown up! She's 12, and she's talking about boys, and she just had her first real kiss, and damn when did I get this old?
Anyway. Let's move on. Suffice to say, while I didn't really rest like I needed, it was still great (and yeah, after last week, staying at home looking at the walls would still be great, but I digress).

To show how different this week started at work, yesterday I actually managed to go home a little before 7PM. Of course it helped that the bosses also went home early: one was celebrating his 30 year anniversary with his wife, and the other was dead on her feet after going to Paul McCartney's concert the night before. Hey, I don't mind the reasons, all I care is that I was out of the office in a humanly acceptable hour.
So I took the opportunity and met my parents at the mall, this time with less window shopping and more actual buying things. Because it turns out that I'm travelling to Florida next week already, and I still haven't even started getting ready.
Anyway, I needed a pair of denim shorts, and a backpack. Check and check. Also,
my backpack is the prettiest. Even prettier than
my Mum's.
(Yes, we're twelve.)
