I never have time to write anymore and sometimes I feel a little depressed about it. What can I say about my life in the airline business though? It's not glamorous, it's certainly not easy and sometimes I question why I'm there at all.
There are days when I'm on the ramp, taking bags off planes and standing in the exhaust of jet engines, dirt smeared all over my face. The bruises on my body have finally healed, but for a while I looked like I'd been in a horrible fight with an airplane... and lost.
And I don't care if you think you're day is bad because on customer got just a little bit snippy. Try walking into a gate area and having 117 people -hate- you, booing you the moment they see the badge. There is nothing more deflating to the ego than that. But oddly, when you get some of those passengers to turn around and smile, even just a little because you bent over backwards to accomodate them, it makes it worthwhile. And saluting the pilots, chatting with them and waving emphatically on the taxi-way after clearing them still gives me an adrenaline rush.
And my friends there make it worth the hassle. Between the Boston employees and the other station crew on loan to us for the summer, I have plenty of reasons to smile. We chat, hug, flirt a little and talk about bigger plans than working where we are. There's another side to that, but going into it now is just not in my energy reservoir. Suffice it to say the person I want to be hugging doesn't much seem interested in physical contact as of late. But there's a pending conversation on that, so hopefully it will be resolved.
I am looking forward to a couple of things this week. Wednesday is a morning on the ocean going on a whale watch, and Saturday is Godsmack concert! If I'm lucky, I can see Shannon again and THIS TIME I will not hold back. I will definitely say hi, or some overhyper, untelligable version of said greeting. And Friday morning is a visit to the Aquarium with the volunteer from Atlanta, Dontavious.
He's helping us out in Boston and decided a chance to see the aquarium for free was worth it. So we're going to check it out, and chat about our common passion which is music. He's starting his own label in GA, and it never hurts to make a connection or two. Plus he's friendly and the more friends I have, the better.
The next update is family. My mother went in for back surgery and ended up with an infection that had us all worried. She's recovering now and finally able to walk at a faster pace than a shuffle. My father is so proud of her, so much so that I can hear it in his voice.
The last update is about my aquiring new living arrangements. I've finally saved up enough and with all luck will be settled into my own place on September first. At that point my flight benefits kick in so, I'm ready to start having visitors. So, if you read this and you'd like to come visit me, I can fly you out for cheap and you'll have a free place to stay for a couple of days or so!
Other than that, I'm exhausted and ready to sleep. Much love.
