The Knights won tonight's game 4-3; it was so amazing that I wouldn't mind having babies for several players on the team. But after the game ended at 9:30PM, my night took such a turn for the worse.
None of us had eaten for a while and we weren't in the mood for chinese, and Emily's allergies doesn't allow her to eat pizza; so we settled on going out to Wendy's.
First, however, we (or rather, Emily pleaded and Alyse and I gave in), decided to go to the Knight Spot to check out the dance marathon. It sucked, so we left a few minutes after. We stopped by Sturges auditorium where this band was suppose to be giving a concert, but their amps were so high that I literally couldn't hear a pretenious emo word they warbled.
On the way to the Union to get on a bus, we were way-laid by some drunk guys who were mildy entertaining, but the smell of booze makes me gag, so I cut that very short.
We got on the 10:45PM bus, looking forward to some Wendy's burgers. We get there around 11:15PM, and since their motto is "Open Late, Eat Great" or some such nonsense, we naturally expect to be fed. We were so wrong. Apparently, that only applies to their drive thru. And, oh, you can't walk thru it. We went through this at McDonalds, Burger King, Pizza Hut and later KFC/Taco Bell. None of those other places were as insulting, however, because they explained that it was their policy and, besides, none of their signs promised to be open past midnight.
What insulted me to most at Wendy's was when we got to the window, the girl asked her manager if it'd be okay. I mean, we are college students and this is, more or less, a college town. Apparently the manager thought we'd try to jack them or something. The most insulting part was the girl telling her manager, "No, they're three nice white girls."
One thing, I am not white. I may not have been so insulted, because I've had distant family members ask my parents (in front of me) if I was "an outside child," but did the people at Wendy's really think that in a town where 98% of people were white, the 2% non-white people (half of whom are international students from China), were really so dangerous that we would try to rob them at any turn?
When I heard it I got so pissed, I said, "Forget this. McDonalds is across the street and I'm sure they'll like my money well enough."
But, apparently after 11PM up here, your money is only good if you have a car. McDonalds, Burger King, Pizza Hut, and KFC/Taco Bell all shut down after 11PM. That, of course, makes so sense because it's Friday night in a college town. I don't know how those places actually expect to make money.
Finally a nice woman at KFC took pity on us and said that the Denny's a little while down the highway was open 24/7. We went there and had a terrific breakfast with great service. But THEN. We finished eating around 12:30AM, and had to wait for a bus until 1:40AM. We ended up in the movie theater (which is open until 2AM because they know they're located in a college town).
Add in snow and freezing temperatures, and a lot of walking between those 7 places, and you have a pretty clear picture of my night. Now I have to go take a nice, hot shower and sleep because I have work in the morning. G'night, all.
