First, a bit of petulant bitching.
Draco/Hermione has been one of my OTPs for a really long time, so it really makes me sad when I see
fanbrats compare it to things like "You've Got Mail," "Laws of Attraction," or even, "My Big Fat Greek Wedding."
Are these people reading the same books as I am? I mean, even if they were only going on the movies, I can't see how they could think any plausible relationship between Draco and Hermione could be like any of those movies.
I'm a fan of Gryffindor/Slytherin. I fact, my two favorite Harry Potter OTPs are Hermione/Draco and Angelina/Montague. But I don't support either ship just because they're inter-house romances.
So basically, dear fanthings, quit cheapening my OTPs by comparing them to any romantic comedy TBS happens to be showing at the freakin' time.
Next, a bit of whining.
I hate HBP. I have no desire whatsoever to read it. The thought alone of picking it up, muchless opening the cover, makes my skin crawl. I kid you not. My aversion to this book has become physical.
I'm going to have to reread it, though. I literally haven't touched it since I read it the day it got released. But I'm going to have to because 1) Blood Debt depends on it; 2) I intend to write a Draco/Hermione 'fic to make myself feel better, and I don't remember anything from the book beyond that Snape killed Dumbledore.
Now, if HBP had been more like Snicket's Penultimate Peril, I'd have no problem at all. But that's a rant that's already been done.
Anyway, I'm going to watch "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy." Ciao.
