Hmm, wonder how Kelly is doing @_@

I'm getting tired of fantasy for some reason. It's become very derivative. I think I need a new genre....oh noes.

I agree, too many fantasy elements have become either cliche or a standard in all books.

(you have no idea how much I hate stories about dragons)

I don't read books with dragons...I can pretty much guess they will be bad. And if I do try to, it is usually what I expected.
I hate Piers Anthony books, and I recommend burning them when you come across them.

I recommend burning Anne Mccaffrey books too (although they are apparently insanely popular).

Try general fiction, or true crimes. Those are pretty good.
But then again, they tend to stick to similar plots as well.

You have to be picky when it comes to Fantasy. There is a lot of shit out there that makes fantasy look bad. Like this jem I was reading. But others, like Tamora Pierce, Phillip Pullman or Garth Nix make it worth it ne? Just have to read the next book, hoping to add it to the list of greats. Or at least, tis what I do.

Puu, yep, those guys are good (I'm especially looking forward to the Golden Compass movie that's due out late this year :D). I think my love for fantasy soured when I started reading Amelia Atwater-Rhodes sequels/anything past "In the Forests of the Night". ESPECIALLY "Demon in My View" (self-insertion much??)

I want to try reading a Tamora Pierce novel. We're doing "The Wee Free Men" in children's lit soon....have you read anything by the author, Terry Pratchett?
