SO. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I was the 7th person to read. My heart was racing like madness when I went up of course, but after I was done I felt really good. I wish I could have smiled more, though. Whenever I'm nervous my face gets all blank and I look angry (says my mom) :<
I didn't place in the top three in my grade or anything, but I still felt happy. They gave us each a certificate. NOW, IF I HAD KNOWN THAT THIRD PLACE GETS $20, SECOND GETS $30, AND FIRST GETS $50, I PROBABLY WOULD HAVE TRIED HARDER =/ Oh, the things money does for people.
Actually, I did not agree with the judges about the girl who won first place (even though she's amazing and is a good friend of mine). Her topic was, "Can you make a difference?" which is really cool, but it was kinda general and I didn't really see the major point she was getting at D: I (and everyone else) expected the girl who won second place to win one of the 3, but we were all kinda surprised that the girl who won first got first, and the boy who got third got third. I don't know.. EVERYONE wanted the boy with Autism/ADD to win first, but his speech was like 8 minutes long and the limit was 5 (it's NOT his fault, he HAS AUTISM FOR CRYING OUT LOUD ;O;).
We all congratulated each other afterward and I got to talk to people I don't normally talk to! Which is always fun~ A lot of people came up to me and were like, "I didn't know you could even TALK that much," "your voice is that loud?!" and even "holy crap why don't you ever talk that much around ME?" Eheheh. Woops. 8D
Anywaaay. The only thing I feel bad about is that I have an inkling that I let my English teacher down. She came in January and she only teaches my class English (the rest of the classes are taught by this other guy) and.. I don't know, the three of us from her class didn't place at all so.. D: I'm sure she won't say anything though. She's so nice (AND I'M NOT JUST SAYING THAT BECAUSE I HAVE A 98 IN ENGLISH)
So next year, I'll think of an even better topic~! (haaa, I'm leaning towards "Where's Waldo?" *shot*)
