So I am reading this book that Warren gave me for my birthday (for those who don't already know, I found myself in one of those crazy crazy things called a relationship).
It is called 'Endgame: Volume II Resistance' by Derrick Jensen.
This booked is a compilation of twenty premises.
Premise one: Civilization is not sustainable and can never be sustainable. This is especially true for industrial civilization. (Please read Collapse by Jared Diamond he is also the chap that wrote and stared in Guns, Germs, and Steel).
My two favorite premises
Premise Eleven: From the beginning, this culture - civilization- has been a culture of occupation.
Premise Fifteen: Love doesn't imply pacifism.
We are in a downward spiral of gentrification. We want and desire without understanding why it is that we want things that we do not need. We have an over developed sense of entitlement with regards to how we live our lives without recompense.
So I ask this question again,
Why the fuck aren't we doing anything about this?
Why are we allowing our resources to mined, depleted, and raped for the sake of the almighty dollar. Why are we so obsessed with ownership, when we don't even own ourselves?
