...........Its around 8:30 pm on New Years Eve and my supervisors tells me to go home or go out to a party.
It 8:30 pm on NYE people are either drunk or on their way.
With ticket in hand and a new pair of cargos for the night I head downtown. The Skytrain is packed and I luckily locate a single chair with a window! Score, I get to watch the ski hills (one of my favourite veiws on the skytrain).
With downtown looming my tummy starts with the somersaults it likes to do before every party that I go to. Well I walk around trying my best to NOT look like a tourist. I shared my umbrella with woman who was going to movie for new years and we sang along with they guy who was playing stairway to heaven. I dropped off my singing partner and had a coffee. There where these girls wearing almost nothing complaining about looking trendy. Which I found slightly amusing. I looked up at the clock and decided it wasn't to early to go into the party. With ticket in hand I go in. Not knowing anyone in advance that was attending I wasn't sure how my night was going to go.
About an hour goes by and low and behold there is a Stephanie and a Bethany. I had heard that they where here, but did not expect to actually run into anyone from Toronto. By the end of the night everyone I had met either new of me (cringes) or already new Mike (but he is still visiting peeps in Toronto). I finally got to meet Stevie (who is actually from my mothers home town). So aside from all of the weird familiarity of the night, reflexion was one of the best NYE I have had in a long time.
Here is to 2006 may you live in interesting times.
