h00: Alarm. Reset.
h45: Sh*t. I wanted to get up early and study.
h55: Shower.
h25: Eat breakfast and have a cup of coffee in the car... while driving.
h00: Arrive on the neurology floor. Nurses want me to take care of 10 000 things as soon as they see me.
h45: Long discussion with a family whose mother (my patient) has a poor prognosis after a big stroke. Despite the fact that I spent the last hour or so explaining the situation and answering questions, they want to talk to the "real doctor" (my attending neurologist). According to the nurse, they reckon I look too young to be taken seriously.
h52: My attending, a busy woman lacking compassion, takes 5 minutes to tell the family that their mother will probably die. O_o !
h05: Nurse pages me: the "annoying" family now wants to talk to me.
h00: Attend a lunch meeting with other residents and doctors. Present a case of meningitis.
h05: My pager goes off like crazy. I will soon become crazy myself.
h47: Help a new medical clerk to write a progress note. Poor thing, it's his second day on the wards. He's good though.
h30: One of my very ill patient wants to leave the hospital. Try to reason him.
h45: A perfectly fine patient doesn't want to leave the hospital... too tired to try anything.
h45: Get home. The boyfriend is pissed that I didn't call to inform I would be late.
h00: Prepare salmon with rosemary and rice. The boyfriend is still pissed.
h40: Study.
h30: Tired of studying. Head out to the gym. Very proud of myself!
