So I was planning on posting some photos of Vancouver and the games tonight but the internet on my laptop with all my photos decided to glitch (hey, just like the cauldron!) so...I can't.

My main problem is the bad press. Blaming the city and organizers for the bad luck and bad weather. Honestly I can say that as a Vancouverite who has lived her entire twenty years in this city; never seen such a warm winter....EVER. Not to say that we get spectacularly cold winters to begin with but, as a skier who spends a fair amount of time up at the mountains - this is insane. Its embarrassing, yes, but can we control mother nature? NO. It is disappointing still. Really unfortunate actually. It seems that the start of these games have just been plagued by a whole lot of bad luck. I'm sorry, Vancouver.

Interesting article, reiterating what I said...

Oh well. I'm still proud. This is a beautiful city and I'm proud to call it home but this is not looking so good.

My bro and I have dubbed it the first ever Spring Olympics (not that funny, I know, but if you could see all the plants that are blooming around the city - literally everything is about two months ahead ITS CRAZY)

Oh and congratulations Alexandre Bilodeau! First Canadian gold on home soil! Such a heart warming night it was the other night. I have a cousin who suffers from a handicap very similar to Alex's brother and it was heartwarming to watch how he was such an inspiration to him - very moving. Another Candian gold today in women's cross snowboarding final - Congrats Maille Ricker of NORTH VANCOUVER!

Isn't it just insane how much everyone gets into the Olympics? Maybe it's just me - I've always been a hug sports fanatic but I find myself transfixed by sports I never have even liked. Don't get me wrong - snowboarding is a gret sport but as a skier I have always been leary of it. Honestly though, watching it this morning my mom and I were going crazy! SO exciting!

I went down with a girlfriend to Concord Plaza yesterday by BC and GM Place (oh excuse me - Canada Hockey Place) and it was so much fun! Pretty much each Province has their own Pavillion with live entertainment, food, booze, viewing screens and a bunch of free giveaways so we had a great time taking in all that. Gotta hand it to Quebec, their Pavillion was awesome. I'll pist pics later but it was sooooo classy; champagne, cheese and plastic cutlery that looks IDENTICAL to silverware. Hahah its sooo funny how my friend and I were so impressed bu it but honestly, SO COOL. I want some for entertaining! Such a dorkl I know

And now onto the only sport we really care about here - HOCKEY. So the women are kiccking major ass (18-0 to Slovakia and 10-1 to the Swiss) but the boys won today was well in their first game, a convincing 8-0 win against Norway. Great game. Jarome Iginla with the hatrick, Sidney Crosby with a three point night, Vancouver Canuck goalie Roberto Lunongo with a shutout  - pretty awesome. Unfortunately Russia also dominated their game againt Lativa, winning 8-2, sooooo who knows?

ANNNNNNNND one more amazing thing ; my best friend and other half works at a trendy restaurant downtown and guess who came in tonight? WAYNE EFFING GRETZKY. You don't even understand how jealous I was. He's number two on my must meet list. Not to a pull a Canadian but HELLO he's number one on my "to meet" list :)
