I'm baaaaaack

One of my New Year's Resolutions is going to be to write more - and that includes blogging, so I guess I might as well get an early start, eh?

Christmas break has been so-so. Murrieta is always a little soul-sucking, but I've been trying to keep busy. I've been reading The Watchmen, and watched several movies: The House Bunny (waste of time - and I was so excited to see it based on the trailer too), Doubt (pretty good - I still like the play better, but that's because I'm a theatre geek), and Burn After Reading (those crazy Coen brothers - definitely an enjoyable flick though). In addition to all this, I introduced 30 Rock to Mom and watched most of season 1 with her. I've also been playing some of my brother's video games (yay Roller Coaster Tycoon 3!).

Christmas itself was nothing too spectacular. Giftwise, the only real things of note are the now-traditional Visa gift card from my dad and from my mom, a pair of slippers shaped like Stewie (from Family Guy) that I'm wearing at this moment.

It's entirely possible that on Sunday I will be going flying with my dad. He got his pilot's license a few months back so I guess I'll let him share that part of his life with me. Even though I'm nervous about it. =/

Being in this town also gives me a lot of time to think about things. I never envisioned taking more than a year off after I graduated college before either going to grad school or somehow getting my butt out of Orange County. Now, it's been a year and a half, and will in all likelihood be at least three years. AND that's if you don't factor into it the boyfriend who's stuck here for four more years (hi Thomas!). I know logically it's silly to be making long-term plans around a boy I've only been with for four months, but emotionally, he's one of the best things that's ever happened to me and I can't bring myself, at this point, to make future plans that don't have at least some chance of including him.

So that's that. I've been thinking about some of my goals/resolutions for 2009. Once I refine them a bit more, maybe I'll post them here to give me some accountability.

Next week, I'm throwing a 90's-themed New Year's Party. I have no idea who's going to show up (if anyone) and what I'm going to wear. And my apartment's a mess (at least, it was when I left it on Tuesday). And and and and...weeeeeee. Should be fun.

Anyway, hope all of you out in LiveJournal land are having a very merry holiday season. =D
