No, that was my zanpakutou--my sword. [She lifts it again to show what she's talking about.] Our specialty, so to speak, is ice-and-snow-based attacks.

In a sense, yes. Sode no Shirayuki is the spirit that lives inside of my sword, but she is also a part of me as well.

It can be a bit confusing when you first learn about it...
