Sketching Drawing and Doodles Nudity and Family Values or Lack Thereof

Aug 08, 2008 21:45

I have been looking around at some of the artists sites here in LJ land. I am amazed at what I find. No, I won't go back into the quality and daring that is required to post those images. Done that already. Nope. This time I ran across good old fashioned FAMILY VALUES ( Read more... )

modeling, human forms, drawing, nudity, art, family values

I hope you do post there. Not only because your counter viewpoint is valuable, but because any artist scathed by drive-by offbase critical BS like that could probably really use some healing words from a sane perspective.

Hello and thank you for your comment. I came your way to get a better idea of the person behind the encouragment and could not resist posting a response to this blog.

First I have to say that I agree with your mini-rant of an "over age 14 requirement" to view my page. I actually put that up in response to being told my drawings were too erotic. I know there is no 'puter police and no one checking IDs at the door, but thought that might put some minds at ease. After your rant, I have removed it because it really is pointless and art is in the eye of the beholder.

Second, I've been told that I am too sensual and erotic in my drawings for years. I take those comments with a grain of salt. In all fairness, the few things I've posted are only a small percentage of my works completed and in progress. I'm still trying to feel my way around the site and figure out the best way to post. I didn't expect to get bitten so quickly.

Third, I appreciate your feedback. Do you mind if I post a link to this blog on my page?

I'm not my friend juice, of course, but since she didn't respond to this yet, fwiw *I'm* posting links to her blog everywhere, and she seems to be ok with that.::grin:: If not I'm sure she'll let us know. But as we were recently discussing, it *is the net, and are us artist-types putting our ruminations out there in public, if not to be seen by the public, on some level ( ... )

Dear Mistyboston, I don't mind at all the link, just really went on a tear about how you got lambasted over your drawings. I like your style, and I firmly believe that you are starting down an artistic path that can be very fulfilling. When I saw these latest drawings, your style reminds me of the artists, Varga and Olivia come to mind, who draw what some call "cheesecake" type renderings. Usually female figures in somewhat suggestive poses. Again, it is always in the eye of the beholder to make that judgment of how much is too much. Gads, I have never posted my nude drawings, but I can just imagine the flak I could get. I think you may have inspired me! Sail on, girl.
