Just got turned onto the Doves by my friend Chris, current favorite song: Caught By The River.
I’m still recovering from my Friday night. I started out the afternoon with a ChocoJing funded chocolate-spree. I’ve never spent so much money on chocolate in my life, it was *so* much fun. It was better than being a kid in a candy store, as there is something seemingly forbidden and guilty about being an adult and spending a week’s “allowance” on chocolate. It felt soooo gooood… I spent more than 1000rmb on chocolates from all over the world, went to four different stores… yeah…
Of course, after I bought the chocolate, I then had to lug it to the Guggenheim exhibition opening at the National Museum of Art… thank ye gods there’s a coat room. Great exhibit, there’s a lot of good art in there, I highly recommend checking it out if you can.
After the opening, I had to battle traffic to get up to the Luce in time to prepare for the party and the Amcham event (they did dinner + chocolate tasting, yum!). I taught Zhang Dali (he’s the owner of the Luce / Luna Lounge) how to make a chocolate martini (no Godiva liquor) on the fly. Beijing is sadly lacking in good girly drink cocktail mixers… (sigh).
Lots of people showed up to the chocolate party, some of whom I went with to hit up a beach party at a friend’s place. We followed a random chick with a pink wig who rode by on a bike and shouted vulgarities at us. Good party in classic ghetto-Beijing fashion, what with the random watermelon rum concoctions and whatnot. Then we all headed out for the James Brown party at Yugong Yishan. Dancing the tango to James Brown is something that I suggest everyone try. If you can’t find a willing partner, just give me a call ;)
Then of course, I got home and had to translate a report on a mining proposal from Français into Anglais. Not sure which country was being talked about, nor what exactly the document said, since the English equivalent would mean little to me in the first place. All I can remember at this point is that I was so tired that I was curled over the keyboard in a very painful manner (my back still hurts) and finally went to bed around 5am.
So yes, I feel vaguely justified in still being tired, don’t you agree?
