It's a Good Start
So it seems I'm a writer again. Let my mother rejoice!
After spending a couple of weeks trying to pretend I wasn't completely distracted and/or consumed by it, I finally got an official reply to my application to be one of 7 Days' new music review writers. Music Editor Dan Bolles dropped me a note last night to let me know that I made the cut, and quite a cut it was as it turns out. Dan blogged about sifting through the somewhat overwhelming pile of 60 or so applications 7D received in response to their semi-inconspicuous ad (hence the two-week ulcer-inducing wait I'd imagine). I wouldn't call myself pessimistic, I'm a realist by nature, but I have a tendency to really think I stand no chance when it comes to shining through a fog of talent. Despite Hannah's insistence that I was a lock, I had my trademark unfounded doubts even after Dan asked me to write something of a trial review so that he could judge my writing in its pre-edited state. The Raul Midon review I posted last week was the result and judging by my subsequent employment, Dan dug it. So, the word is that I'll start writing in the very near future and I'll be sure to update here on occasion when there's news to share. In the mean time, stay tuned to the 7D Music Section (and 7D in general, they're good people). See ya'll in the funny (music) pages.
